if you have a car. ANY car.. and you put 20k into the motor you can put it into 9's.
thats not his point though. his point is its a good car for 20k, specially with what cars mazda wanted it to compete with(small nissans, honda's,cobalts. etc)

Spun rod bearing, didnt wanna spend $2500 for a replacement engine, needed new rear rim thanks to chicago pot holes, a/c compressor, other engine things under the hood. Got hit on the side from some a-hole who took off so I needed $700 to fix that, then I needed $1500 to fix the front end, most of that cost is because I fabed up pa custom cowl using the skin of the hood.

So I figured in 3 years it would be what I wanted it to be, by then I wouldnt care so I deemed it pointless to keep paying for it.

The rough draft of the hood, never got it finalized

But hey atleast she sounded great! Catless, twin moroso spiral flows into a aerturbine 2525 then split out the back!

    YouTube - Smetters2006's Channel

SO I traded all this for a 2000gtp that needs a new engine and currently are swapping it out now. Smart idea? we will see haha

You can't compare cars like this that came out 10-13 years apart unless you take technological advances out which obviously make a difference, at least that's how I see it.

My friend from high school had a 2008 2.3 and we were messing around lined up at a stop light going up a hill i had my 2005 gp base no mods what so ever. i had my friend in the car and he had a friend in his car too, light turned green and we both punched it. through first gear we were fairly close but i pulled ahead at about 35 and gained more and more up the hill by 60 i was 3+ car lengths up on him. My girlfriend has an 08 mazda 3 too its quick but its so light it cant handle multiple passengers well. I drive an 05 gtp now and theres no way the mazda 3 not speed3 could beat the grand prixs without being turbod or well modded

What problems to they have minus the power steering recall and the cheaply done interior?

I think there is a reason they junked the coblat line within 5-6 years and started with the cruise. i had 99 sunflower gt and i thought it rode better and faster then the cobalt did and my car was 5-6 years older then the new cobalt(years ago when i was looking for a newer car).
    Just my opinion.

After picking up the speed3, I pulled next to my wife in the 09 GXP. She thought I wanted to race, so she had the jump, and I wasn't able to catch up.
    09 GXP? Not possible.

Mazdaspeed's are nifty cars. I'm considering a MazdaSpeed6 when I sell off my GTPooh

You'll take an SS lie over a MazdaSpeed3?
