So my brother and I just got done hunting down a vacuum leak and installing some plugs, wires, and a 3.1 pulley on the GTP. We decide to take it down Hall Road in Shelby Twp. to see if we run into any KR. I shot from one red light to the next which put me almost 1/4 of the way thru 3rd gear. No KR on the interceptor and this thing pulls like a roller coaster .

Next light turns yellow so I have to hop on the brakes pretty hard. I came to an almost violent stop right next to a black SRT-8 charger, and the dude looks pissed that I pulled up on him. He crept forward a bit and revved a little on the clutch. I let off the brakes to roll up a little more and the light turned green. The bastard took off on me. He put almost a full car length on me because he stole the hit. I made up the distance pretty quickly because he spun, and I rolled into the throttle. While side by side, he gained traction and pulled until he switched gears. between gears I put a half length on him and it grew to about 2-3 car lengths by the time I shut it down.

Honestly the car sounded mean, but it wasn't as fast as I expected at all. On top of that, my car was much faster than I expected! At the next light he asked me what I had in that thing! I told him Just a little V6. He laughed and said "yeah whatever". Funny thing is... I was telling the truth. He took off again, and I let him go without racing because I had just scared the hell out of myself. (Mind you, I was testing the pulley, not looking for a race)

The 3.1 made a BIG difference from the 3.3. I can definitely tell through the entire powerband

LOLz...what is with this clutch and rowing through the gears thing? The SRT8 Charger is a automatic only car...the 6-spd pistol grip shifter ones were the Challenger...maybe you were confused?

    pulley = torque.

    torque wins.

Who wants a big V8 like that in a street car with an automatic?

Because that V8 is over 6 liters...and makes as much friggen torque as the space shuttle columbus at ANY RPM.

    400 minus 17% = 332

Kinda around what GP's make with some decent mods.

Meh, most are putting down over 360 horse and 350 TQ...stock. Which is a good typical hundred more HP than what our cars put down with mods to get to about 330 TQ.

apparently new challengers are around 4000 instead of the 4400 they were when they first released them.

Maybe they got rid of all the dead hippies in the trunk from the 70's they brought that car from?

2010 Dodge Challenger Technical Specifications - Consumer Guide Automotive

    3720

2008 Dodge Challenger Technical Specifications - Consumer Guide Automotive

    4140

2009+ are listed as 3720 on that site.

Could be the difference between V6 and V8 w/auto.

And everybody thinks old muscle cars are heavy...

Why can't automakers lighten cars up a bit.

Yeah I just found this out today. It sounded like he was on the clutch, but obviously the guy was just rolling forward in neutral. I don't really care for Chrysler products, and it shows. Guess I Learn something new every day. But yes it was definitely a Big 4 door charger SRT-8. Not the challenger

The Charger SRT-8 makes 425, not 400 HP. They really move. But they are rather porky.

    Nice kill.

I'd still rather have an SRT8 Charger over my car.
