I took my regal gs to the track last friday, the track was slick so no one was hooking up. My best time was a 14.89 with bad tires and still managed to beat a lot of cars. I was disapointed with the times but still beat up on a 2005 stock cobalt ss he ran a 15.1 to my 14.9 his trap time was 95mph to my 93mph trap time. I ran a four door si he ran a 15.3 to my 15.0 at 92mph. My friend brought his 88 supra which has a rebuilt motor with a 75 shot of nitrous his trap speed was about 96 to my 93mph trap speed. My car has a down pipe with no cat and a k@n filter and a good tune up with all of the fluids flushed thats it, but I was still hoping to hit mid 14's maybe next week it will happen when I put my computer in and some better tires!

For your mods and a heavy Regal, I wouldn't complain...but with a good launch and track prep I say mid 14's

im going to say either the cobalt was not s/c or it was a crappy driver. the s/c ones run mid 14's stock. good kills either way.

I thought all Cobalt SS were blown. I wouldn't expect a non-blown Cobalt to do as well as 15 on a bad day.

no there were ss' that are not. 05-07 there was the 2.0 s/c and a 2.4 n/a. the n/a was identical to the s/c with the exception to the motor. same suspension, trans, etc. 08-09 the ss name was dropped for the 2.4 n/a. the ss LNJ s/c motor was dropped in favor of the LNF t/c. the 2.4 n/a had around 170 hp. and ran mid 15's stock.

Let some air out of those front tires and short stage. Works every time!

For other ways on getting the best time with your GP refer to ZZP's article on their site.

I still don't think a stock N/A Cobalt would do 15.1 on a slick track. Sounds more like a stock SS/SC losing about .7 on a slick track. LSD was available but wasn't even standard then. Trap time is hign for a N/A also.

Not really... they're a 14.5-14.8 @ 95-97 on the very high end of the average.

Don't not really me, I've had both in the driveway at the same time. I realize we GP owners want to believe the hyperbolie and such, but news flash, not everything gets slower because it lines up with a W-Body.
