I have the rims that came on the 2004 Grand Prix GT's. Well they arent in the greatest shape. What would be the best way to go about painting them? Like a glossy black. I will need to sand and primer and all that but is their any paint recommended or tips? No i don't want them powder coated, on a budget for now. Thanks for any help.

Duplicolor wheel paint, follow the directions on the can. It's easy if the tires are off, if they are go ahead and pull the valve stem out and put new ones in when getting tires put on. You can even use fillers is you have scratches to fill. You can do a good job on the cheap if you take your time. Do some Googling and you will find some good tutorials.

Any catalyzed acrylic urethane will last with proper prep. So- body shop base/clear paint like all the collision repair and refinish shops use. Anything else (besides a catalyzed polyurethane) will be less resistant to UV rays, stains, and brake dust. Of course many brands of paint are available and many different quality levels. I would not use anything fancy, just high enough quality so it actually works as directed.

You might want to give powder coating a check-out however. In many cases once prep and materials are figured in its cheaper. They just blast then coat, whereas the paint approach is a lot of difficult sanding and potential for peeling if you dont get it all good. I bet a powder coater would do the backside nice, too. Either way its kinda high but I am anti-dip so there ya go.
All Grand Prix, all the time. 69 Model J, 99 GT & GTP coupes. All junk, haha.

I used duplicolor wheel paint and clearcoat before. Of course I put self etching primer prior to painting.
