was thinking of upgrading in the spring due to dryrot on my tires..i have 225 55 17 on stock chrome gtp rims.thought maybe a size bigger might fill up wheel well a tad bit more than stock and look a little better...

Idk if this will be the same for 04+ but 235/55 my '00 GTP on stock 17x7.5 Bonneville wheels, the rear tires rubbed the upper inside corner's on the spring perch. I now have the same wheels with 235/50-17 and ton's of clearance around the perch. The 235/55 is an inch taller and about a 1/4" wider than a 225/55.

I have 235/55/17 tires on Buick Lucerne wheels on my sons 04. The fit is perfect and no rubbing
Don
i cant imagine a 1/4 inch wider would rub anything? ill climb under there in the next few days and look around near the spring perch. i can get a better price on the 235's as well thats why im kinda leaning towards them..
you want to keep the overall diameter within 3% and you can probably go up to something like a 245 or 255 without worrying about rubbing on a wheel with a proper offset. the stock wheels would be no problem.
i dont know guys..looks pretty close to the rear spring perch like osiris94 mentioned...id hate to have to start grinding stuff to make them fit...
