I will spot my opinion on these.

Terrible tires, over priced, they are directionals and for an all season you dont want them. Tread life is not good.

I've got Altimax R/Ts..almost fresh tires when I made the purchase. Are these a (decent) set of tires?

I run Kumho Solus KR21's on my 00 GT and they seem to do just fine in anything but deep snow (duh, not a snow tire). They seem to be wearing evenly and slowly. I've had 2 of them on there for over 45K now and they still have good tread left. If it weren't for a screwed up front end alignment the front 2 would have lasted the same. Been through some pretty deep water at highway speeds and not once felt it unsafe. I haul my 4 year old around in that car so I'm kinda picky when it comes to tires. I had a set of Goodyear Eagle RS-A's that came on my 03 CV Sport and those were probably the crappiest tires I've ever driven on. Wore fast, sidewall flex, etc.. Another badyear product.

I run Toyo's on it now and the difference is night and day, but so is the price, lol...

    Think I paid $90/tire for the Kumho's. Tirerack.com

    Just my .02

Sumitomo and Kuhmo both make decent all season tires that provide adaquate mileage, handling and wet weather traction. Don't just spend money because of a name, too many tire compnaies out there now making quality stuff

That explains a lot, lol.. They wore out in less than a year and they sucked even when they did have decent tread on them. It got scary whenever it was anything but dry out. Nothing like having the front end of 4200lb car traveling ~60mph go a direction you can't change! Although it did make turns fun

if you're going to the peninsula of Michigan or anywhere even north in Michigan, screw all seasons and buy a set of blizzaks by bridgestone. Winters are really rough on Michigan.

I wont be driving in the winter though. Only if I have too. I will walk to class in the snow to prevent driving over salt.

Smart idea, another idea that you could do is if you needed to drive for other reasons, get like a 500-900 old beater truck off the local Craigslist. That's one advantage tithe northern states. You can get a rough shape vehicle for as much as a new set of tires. That way you can garage the prix altogether. That's what I will be doing this winter.
