I've got new set of 17X8 rims with 235/55-17 Eagle RS-A. Tire says max pressure 44 lbs. When I got the tires put on the shop set the pressure at 44lbs.
Do I really need that much or is there another pressure I should be running at?

35 PSI all the way around is what I sport.
When I go to the track, I will run around 12PSI in my front slicks, and pump up the rears to the MAX rated PSI which I believe is 44PSI for mine as well.

yea normal driving you shouldn't need 44 psi. as with the others i run bout 35 psi.
The max tire pressure printed on the sidewall is the maximum pressure, not what they should normally be set to.
Draw a chalk line across your tires, then drive for a little bit. If the chalk line wears evenly, then your tire pressure is good. If the center wears first, your pressure is too high. If the edges wear first, your pressure is too low.
Thanks!
i run 35-36.
GO by what your car tells you on that sticker
Max pressue is bad wears tires out fast and hit a pot hole can bend rim a lot easier. That is there for if the car is fully loaded down with its max weight
