Tire sizes that will work based on Rim Size

    16 Inch Rims
    225/60R16
    235/55R16

    17 Inch Rims
    225/55R17 Stock diameter
235/50R17 1.39% too small so its good, but not perfect
235/55R17 2.03% too tall. Help fill out wheel wells, increased chance of rubbing.
245/50R17 is the same diameter of the stock tire. Expensive, limited selection.
255/45R17 Shorter than stock, but still within 3%. A fair amount of sizes available, but not recommended for wheels 7.5 in wide or narrower. (Would probably go well on mustang 17x8 wheels)

    18 Inch Rims
    245/45R18 Stock diameter.

    20 Inch Rims

    22 Inch Rims

Something to add to the available tire sizes:

245/50-17 is the same diameter of the stock tire.
245/45-17 is a little smaller diameter, but has more size options and better pricing.

255/45-17 is in between the above sizes, but wider. A fair amount of sizes available, but not recommended for wheels 7.5 in wide or narrower. (Would probably go well on mustang 17x8 wheels)

245/50-20 is a bit large of a tire. That is a 29.6" diameter tire, where the factory was 26.6".

245/35-20 would be closer to the right overall diameter.

Will 255/35-20 rub on an 04+, stock height?

By saying that the tire size will work do you guys mean that it will not rub and also won't ge the TCS light on? I've read that if you change the diameter, the TCS light will come up.

depends on what model GP. I think the 04+ might have that problem issue but only with go a diameter thats way different then stock.

Will I be able to fit my 1995 firebird rims with 245/50-16 tires on my 02 Grand Prix GT? The rims are 16x8 and they are also stamped 55.0....maybe that is the back spacing or off set or something?

    Thanks

    that is the offset, +55mm.

also, those rims are the wrong bolt pattern so they will not fit a wbody.

I'm putting grand am gt rims on as my winter rims. I was going to use my 16" Special Edition rims, but they look like they belong on my grandmother's buick. Plus I got a bad belt. The grand am rims are 16's, so I'll be looking for 225/60R16 tires, seen some nice michelin x tires. For summer I got 18" Metal FX rims with 235/40R18 tires, but they just look too small. What size tires would be best for my 18's? I think the tire needs to be 235/?R18?

I probably sound stupid, but if the rim was on 235 tire, don't I need a new 235 tire? 245 would work on the rim?
