they arent any wider, it is just where the rim will sit compared to the wheel well. if you get a +50 offset it will be tucked into the fender a little, whereas you get a +20 offset and it will stick out of the fender. this does not mean the rim is wider, it is just where the rim itself is made to stick out farther.
this is why im telling you to get something around +35 to +40 so that it doesnt stick out too far, but makes the car look a little nicer because the wheels/tires will be more flush with the fenders.
