Temp Climbing

My GXP typically shows 3/8 on the coolant temp, very consistently.
This morning, while idling in Park for maybe 5 minutes, the gauge climbed up to just a tick over 1/2. It dropped down after I started moving again.
Outside temp was about 60 so it's not like it's hot out.
The ATF temp showed about 175, about normal for these conditions (40 mile highway run).
I changed the HVAC settings and turned off the AC this morning because it was so cool. I've been leaving it on automatic temp control for a few weeks before this.
I popped the hood when I got home, radiator juice level is fine but the fans were not running.
I'm wondering if the AC setting has something to do with the engine cooling fans. It shouldn't but...
Next step is check fuse after I eat breakfast.
I had the rad flushed and filled after I bought the car. It only has 22K so there shouldn't be trouble brewing. I hope.

Yep you're right.

I just called the Chevy service guy (not too happy with BPGMC dealer) and he said with the AC on, one cooling fan runs continually because it's needed for the coils.

So that explains why the temp climbed, he said the fans don't come on until about 220 otherwise and I wasn't getting that hot.

So I guess to stay cool, run the AC. :th_laugh-lol2:
