• The site migration is complete! Hopefully everything transferred properly from the multiple decades old software we were using before. If you notice any issues please let me know, thanks! Also, I'm still working on things like chatbox, etc so hopefully those will be working in the next week or two.

Possible problem

I was putting a new head unit in my 04 Grand Prix and I made a stupid mistake. I wasn't paying full attention to the wires when I was pushing the head unit in, ended up pinching the power wire and frying the interface. It appeared that nothing else was damaged, it all looked okay, so I put the factory stereo back in until I could get a new interface. Now when I try to start the car it says "starting disabled due to theft system". Did I mess up something major?

Not really, but from what I found on Google the relearn proceedure may have to be done. Here is what I found:

ok, you need to do the 30 minute relearn procedure:

  1. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
  2. Attempt to start the engine, then release the key to ON (vehicle will not start).
  3. Observe the SECURITY telltale(security light), after approximately 10 minutes the telltale will turn OFF.
  4. Turn OFF the ignition, and wait 5 seconds .
  5. Repeat steps 1 through 4 two more times for a total of 3 cycles/30 minutes (the vehicle is now ready to relearn the Passlock(TM) Sensor Data Code and/or passwords on the next ignition switch transition from OFF to CRANK). IMPORTANT: The vehicle learns the Passlock(TM) Sensor Data Code and/or password XXXXX the next ignition switch transition from OFF to CRANK. You must turn the ignition OFF before attempting to start the vehicle.
  6. Start the engine (the vehicle has now learned the Passlock(TM) Sensor Data Code and/or password).
  7. With a scan tool, clear any DTCs if needed (history DTCs will self clear after 100 ignition cycles).
