key won't advance in ignition - won't trun

Initially, my key would not come out of the ignition. In my attempt to repair it, I followed the steps from another thread, depressing the brass plunger on the iginition solenoid, and was then able to remove the key. This worked for about 2 minutes. When I put the key back into the ignition, and tried to turn it forward, it now will not rotate so that I can start the car. No matter what I have tried, I cannot get turn the key, and obviously cannot start the car. Suggestions?
 


Seriously? Is that the only option to replace the ignition? Ignition was working fine ... wondering if I somehow worsened the problem. Can't seem to think of anything I could have done to damage it other than depressing the solenoid.
 
yeah im thinking you need an ignition.. if it was the ignition switch you would probably be able to turn it.. it might even be one piece.. and i'm pretty sure you're gunna need to rent a steering wheel puller.
