Fuel Pump or Filter?

O.k I asked the question about fuel pump of filter? I changed both and the car still stalls out! It will start and run for a few and then it stalls out but it will start right back up and then stall, I have a supercharger 1997 Grand prix Could it be the fuel pump regulator and if so how do I troubleshoot it and where is it located?

lol, well i'm having the same damn issue as you and i've got a scope on mine currently, you make any progress let me know and i will do the same for you. It is although NOT the fuel pump in my case, The fuel pump is running in severe duty and the car is running lean as hell

i was gonna replace my filter just because and i twisted my line off even though i heated it first...so yea i'll let ya know more when i get some fuel line back on here

I'm going to clean the mass airflow sensor tomorrow and see if that fixes the problem.Hey Pittman! Any luck with your car?

Hey my car sometimes stalled. So i was too cheap to buy a MAF and so i bought a new gas filter. When i took it off the old one was VERY plugged. This helped a little but the care still didn't run like it was so post to. I than finally bought the MAF. That was the answer. Do both and if they don't work than maybe its the fuel pump but, im not all that educated with cars so thats a guess. Best of luck

Yeah I already changed the filter and fuel pump no change, I cleaned the MAF no change. I'm not saying the MAF that I have on there is good but it all boils down to is me buying a new MAF.

I also did my filter and very little changed, talked to a old gp junkie tonight and he said its basically 90% gonna be the crank sensor, and it will not throw a code because when it malfuntions it shuts down right away and doesn't have time for the pcm to register the issue.

On the 97 gtp I had the same prob and it was the fuel resistor. It is in the front pass side bumper cover by the pisser fluid bottle. Let me know what you find.

I agree. I had the same problem on my 99 gtp and a fuel pump resistor fixed it.

on this resistor is it dealer only? or is it just a generic resistor you got from radio shack or something? Also is it mounted somewhere or inline in the wiring?

Well I put a new MAF on and guess what? Same thing! Car starts and then stalls out, so far I have a new fuel pump, fuel filter and MAF sensor and now I'm really confused. Anybody have any ideas?

I just went thru this problem, I had another post asking the same questions. They allhad me check and change sensors, fuel pump, fuel filter. My brother found a post here of a car that would start and run only if tapping the throttle to keep rpms @2000- 4000. The problem was fuel pump resistor. quick fix bend tab on # 15 fuse and start up. worked like a champ. hope it helps jim

found it, you bend out the #85 tab on the fuel pump resistor relay, which is in the #15 position, heres the pic i found and i'm about to go try this

I followed the pics from post and and it worked. I found a site that there is a recall and a new kit that moves it from under wheel well to fire wall
