EGR system

I have what I believe to be an exhaust leak under the hood and it did not look to be coming from the manifolds, but near the EGR valve.


Seafoam is great for finding the general area of exhaust leaks!



What comprises the EGR system in these 3100 sfi cars? The only experience I have is with early EFI Fords and their systems. valve>sensor>regulator and everything is internal to the manifolds/heads.

From where do our EGR valves tap the exhaust?


Where would you look first for leaks? Old gaskets?

Follow the tube from the valve to the manifold and look for leaks.

Is it just a pipe from the manifold to the electronically controlled valve? That's all there is to it?

yea thats basicly it, more then likey its leaking from either sides of the pipe, like stated before

It's been raining so I haven't gone out to check anything. ****in' pipe looks to be pretty expensive though!


Hopefully it's just a gasket, but if not, a few spots of weld ought to seal up the pipe should it have any leaks.

theres no gaskets...just get some red RTV.
