ok so ive been having a total nightmare since i bought my girlfriend her 97 grand prix se w/ a brand new 3800 in it *less than 20,000 on the new motor* soo ill start with how it all began.
First day - bought car new the dashlights didnt work guy said it was just blown bulbs. no bigge.
Day 2 - changed bulbs in cluster replaced cluster still no illumination lights in the dash. abs light e.g ect work.
day 3 - called the guy he said he swapped the old cluster out cuz it just died on him all of a sudden everything stopped working..
day 4 - still no signs of help pulled all the fuses checked em *even replaced every single fuse maxi/small fuses in the panel for the glove box and underhood eletrical one.
so on and so forth... the shifter wont shift unless u push down the nuetral lock release button....keys wont come out of iginition less u press the button under the ignition to release them.... stll no dash lights all my headlights/fog lights work the dimmer switch wheel just turns until it turns on the courtesy lights which i dont have the door ones working probabaly just a blown bulb...
2 weeks - found a low jack hidden under the shifter panel lots of cut wires *a rigged setup. under the stero?* forgot to mention i dont have a stereo backlight either or a shifter light but that was pulled n the end of it looks badly burned. and lots of corosion there.
today - found signs of something spilled in the shifter panels... looks like Soda.. -.-so that probably shorted something out?... got a used cluster swapped out the old one backlights didnt work on it either even with new bulbs. came outta a 98 pontiac grand prix se W body *just like mine just a year older..*
sooo can anyone help me? >.< im sick and tired of trying to fix it.. hoping its not a bad dimmer switch but that would mean it wouldnt turn on the courtesy lights either right?..
EDIT :: Also would like to add that i dont have any HVAC lights either. only ones that work are the defrost button light for the rear + the AC button light. :/
