Built or bought heads?

I have an extra set of heads and was wondering is it worth machining them? I want to build them for performance. I currently have a 00 gtp with gen 5swapped with n*. Other then that I don't have any mods I plan to put headers with the heads. Thanks in advance!

it cost me about a 100 bucks in tools to diy port and polish my heads. i lapped the valves and put em back together. if you got the time to invest doing the work its worth it. it took me a good 20 hours in all. maybe a bit more. did 2 to 4 hour working shifts on em over a few weeks time.

factory casting crap that you clean up and smooth out.

if you buy a set of heads then you can get them clearanced for an aggressive cam. you don't have to go that route. Intense sells heads that are built to pair with one of their cams and would be a good combination. but they are expensive, like 1500 just for the heads. a cheaper route would be to just do it yourself, but like Scott said, it is time consuming and hard work.

Is there a thread where I can read up on how? Because all I got is time haha I don't mind doing it myself. But I wanted it for a streetable car still but with more flow for the gen 5
