99 GT temp gauge runs high

Having some issues with a 99 GT. The gauge runs about 3/4 of the way up but actual temp at the therm housing reads normal. Also, the fans dont seem to be coming on. Ive hard wired the fans and they work, replaced the relays, fuses are fine. installed a new temp sensor. Anybody have any ideas of what could be going on?

EDIT...Im starting to suspect the ECM. Does anybody know if I pull one from an identical parts car if it has to be programed or will it be plug and play???

im having the same problem with my 02, different motor but same problem, my gauge on the dash reads about 10* hotter then what the computer says tho but the engine doesnt get that hot.
So im in the same sinking boat as you

^^^^ Very true LOL!!! I've had water in my upper intake, lower intake, cyl's, and floor board..... I might have one of them boat cars, with holes in it....

Seriously though... sounds like you've done what's needed... is your radiator clogged at all (when car is at running temp you can put your hand on the radiator and feel for different temperature spots)? Do you still have heat? Do you appear to be losing coolant?

My fans never come on in 2000 GT, but my gauge reads about 160 to 180. Did the same things you have done so I am pretty sure you just got a bad gauge. One question I do have, what temp should the car run to get the best gas mileage? One thing I did to my GT is get a cold air intake and that made my gas mileage worse. I have a 2002 GTP that's gets much better gas mileage than the GT
