I went in this morning. While I was out yesterday the consultants (my replacements) came in. They knocked down the twin-ax service and took three hours to get it running. It's 5 minute job. They they knocked the system down that prints forms, I had to start that this morning. The payroll project is so far failing. The new payroll system isn't paying people correctly. My wife, who works for me, told my boss she can run it on the old payroll system to give them time to fix it. But he's painted us into a corner as the conversion to the new iSeries (aka AS/400) takes place this weekend. That's what happens when you put software and hardware people in charge that are only interested in getting the business and selling product. I guess it doesn't matter that I cared about this company, once they decided they can save a dollar by retiring me.

I think bosses would be correct for the title; for possessive wouldn't it be boss', not boss's? I wouldn't write "those cars's mufflers are worn out". It would be "those cars' mufflers are worn out."

I would work up until the 2 weeks. No need to burn a bridge in case something happens and you need to go back. You leaving should make enough of a point.

This. I have seen this help and haunt people in the past. It's time's like this that show your character and you never know who is watching. That person may not be the hiring manager, but may work somewhere looking to hire you down the road and their assessment of you may make the difference in getting an offer or not. That said, but honest and clear when you meet with management about why you are leaving, but be professional. Work your last 2 weeks unless asked to leave. Don't work a bunch of OT or weekends that would not be typical, but don't leave an hour or 2 early everyday either.

Yup admittedly I've done it before and left on bad terms and went elsewhere and after awhile hrs started to be cut, the drive started to get annoying and then I started to rethink going back to that old job and then bam I remember how I left and never bothered. Fortunately I haven't ever had to go back to any old jobs but I did widen my eyes to not burn up bridges because you really never know what the future holds.

Like what everyone else said, don't burn bridges you may need. Also, you never know when you need a reference in the future for whatever. There's times I wanted to tell my old manager to go **** herself, but luckily- she left before I did. Then I ended up taking over her job. So it kind of worked out I suppose.

My supervisor came over to me today. He said he called the owner yesterday, and told him about my situation. He said the two of them wanted to have a meeting with me, probably tomorrow, to discuss what they can do.

This next part is the funniest. He said he started making a list of everything that I am responsible for and that it was a "very lengthy list." He also said that he looked at my filed and that "I am long overdue for a review."

They are scared sh!tless because they know they aren't going to be able to replace me. I think the owner thinks that if they throw me more money that I am going to stay. He has is about get a rude awakening.

Id rather be at a job with lesser pay but I like over a job with more pay and makes me want to kill people.

Depends on how much of a difference in pay.. It it was very significant then I'll deal with the bs but if it wasn't that much then nope new job, new environment. One of my old jobs I was getting paid pretty well and stuck with it for awhile then started to really hate coming to work and kept losing my mind I said f it one day and quit and immediately what a relief that was sure the it missed the money but after all the day to day bs it wasn't worth it. Now I'm happy where I'm at.

That's exactly it. What is money going to do when I am not happy with the job and I am going insane dealing with the same stupid people I deal with now?

its bad when a person has to put two weeks in to get any recognition for work done. ive seen it with several coworkers that have put two weeks in and have been offered a good raise to stay, its just poor management skills some of these boss's posses

In the end it is better to have a job that you actually like than a job that you hate but pays more. but if you like your job and get paid good win win for you
