Why don't people know how to drive in the snow?

Coming home from school today it took me 2.5 hours to get home because on the 401 there was an accident pretty much every mile. And every 5 minutes there would be either a cop car, ambulance or fire truck screaming up the shoulder. I saw one time, when an ambulance was coming up that a highway tractor tried to move into the lane that I was in to get out of the way of the emergency vehicle and the car in front of me just speeds up when he puts his blinker on and almost runs into the side of the truck. Plus I got cut off many times and noticed that everyone was tailgating each other. If people were more careful in the snowy/icy weather then there would be far less accidents and people would get home sooner.

sounded like my drive home from houston today, no snow or nothing, there was 1 wreck. people are idiots cutting each other off zig zagging back and forth thru stop and go(mostly stop) traffic, just to get 1 car length ahead, most of the time they just screw themselves and end up further back. Oh and I HATE these assholes that think they are better than everyone else and can drive on the shoulder!!

It's not the snow I mind, but I agree that it seems many people are oblivious to their surroundings.

What bugs me is the lack of knowledge on how to do a four-way stop. IT'S CALLED RIGHT-OF-WAY FOR A REASON!

Nice. I usually end up just waiting until a giant truck pulls up beside me and then just go when he does :P Better him to get hit than me

heh... when it snows here in Arkansas a few times a year, everyone heads for the hills and hides in their houses..

..but the ones who do get out on the road, drive 15-20 mph under the speed limit and still end up in the ditch..
