Went to a car show today and it should have been great.
Lots of cars from out of town, large turn out, not too many Camaros and Mustangs for a change, cloudy day, very diverse range of vehicles, for charity, lots of trophies to give out.
It sucked! I felt bad when I left.
Many were camped out in chairs behind their cars staring at you checking out their car, hate that. Makes me move on pretty quick.
Even worse there were people hanging out inside their cars making it feel like you are intruding their space! Its a car show!

Negative attitudes were all over the place. I watched a guy making fun of a Skyline because it had primer on the back quarter.
Its a F^@$in Skyline! who cares about primer. Meanwhile this jerks Altima was decorated with frost pink trim and womens shoes!

The only Wbody was an Impala that was lowered and it seemed like his mods were cosmetic and stereo stuff. He was having his girlfriend take pics of him posing with it. Down on one knee, arms folded, chin up, lips puckered, glaring at the camera. UGH! Did not feel like asking him about the car.

Why do people feel the need to grab, shake and open anything they please! I noticed it was actually mostly older people.

Then there were a few rich kids that had some pretty kick a$$ cars that there was no way they could have worked for. They were busy guarding their cars, their girls and giving people the finger!

Should have been a good day but it left me feeling pretty crappy. I guess everyone must have felt the same. Normally these things are fun.

    Uh autofest here is awesome.

    Tonns of old cars.

Its not like lots of 4 gen F bodys either...those have to stay out in the parking lot LOL.

Its all about the 1970's and earlier cars.

    nice people too.

What you're describing sounds like XTS

I don't care much for car shows either cause what the OP said sounds pretty familiar.

More often than not, the car was restored by shops and such, seldom did the owner have anything to do with the restoration besides paying for it.

Each Saturday in our city they hve this informal car show, last time I went there was some dumb-ass group of rednecks hanging out in the back of their pickup, confederate flag and all.

I can seriously appreciate a restored classic when the owner got his own hands dirty to brings things back-to, even if a shop painted it (kind of hard to do that in the garage) but paying a shop to restore something and then parading around in it like you did the work is kind of BS.

I like car show, give us an opportunity to share the work put in on the cars. That being said, I've noticed that mixed class car shows tend to be more attitude. The tuner thinks differently toward 67 fastback or low rider impala. I think society as a whole is changing toward one another. I appreciate all cars that have been restored or even just taken care of above the norm. The other day I say a 81-82 Ford Escort at a gas station mint condition, all original. Talked to the guy driving it, turned out the lady who owned it died she was the original owner, only had 40,000 miles. You look at a car like that and appreciate that someone cared enough to take care it. Now its a DD for the guy who bought it for 750.$. I wonder if he'll take care of it.

Oh yeah, I love sitting in the hot sun on the blacktop parking lot all day, trapped because if I leave I might miss my chance at the $4.99 plastic trophy that justifies the time and $thousands I spent on my ride. And everybody is all touchy touchy leaving fingerprints and rubbing their beltbuckles on my paint.

I do enjoy cruizes more, cool evenings, actually driving your car, much more enjoyable. I prefer car shows in parks and park like settings, with plenty of room between the vehicles so everyone can look or take pictures without hassle.

I just went to a charity car show last weekend and the cars were so close together no one could walk through much less the owners safely get in and out without hitting the car next to them.

Not all shows are created equal.

A cruise and a food vendor/eating area probably could have helped a little with everyone's mood.
I understand keeping a close eye on your classic or custom car but it is very uncomfortable when the conversation from the lawn chairs and grass instantly dies and all the heads turn to watch you.

I touch nothing, ask questions and usually learn quite a bit and meet some pretty cool people.
I have seen some pretty horrible, poorly organized shows put off by people who had no idea what the hell it takes to keep that many people happy.
This one had a lot going for it but it just felt strange.

Tuners and classics together at shows tend to be a pretty big divider though.

99% of people are idiots. You just have to learn how to tolerate them.

I've had people almost run me off the road hanging out the window to look at my GTO.

Co worker had a 53 Ford F100. Hot rodded daily driver.
Never saw such a trouble magnet/rolling distraction before. Amazing how far people will go to get in your way..... then hit your truck.
