A few weeks ago I noticed my engine started running rich. Noticed that I was low on power and a few times the engine stalled out after starting it. MAF sensor reading were off so I figured it was dying. I bought a new LQ4 MAF and when I went to go change it I noticed this....

So it seems that after two years of use the filter fell apart and for a few weeks my engine had been ingesting all sorts of crap which killed my MAF. Anyone running a Spectre Filter beware!

Spectre is terrible. I like the aem dryflow or s&b.

I tried to tell you guys in the past that Spectre was garbage but it was glazed over as if no one cared, as long as they got a filter for cheap.

Each to their own. My Spectre filter is over 5 years old and the inside looks brand new. It was also one of the $30 ones. I bought a new one for like $12 on eBay and when I went to put it on I noticed a bit of the the screen wasn't embedded in the glue on the cap. So I gave it away and continued using my old one.

I liked my 9" AEM but sick of people commenting how "dirty" it looks.

I've used Spectre filters for a while now and never an issue! Clean them and replace as necessary, filters don't last forever! Mine have worn reasonably well and replaced them for ascetics, the filter material still good but outside looked like ****.

AEM Dryflow is the only way to go. Their panel filters look well made too

The Aem dryflow I had on my GP was awesome, and it only cost $20. If the Hoe wouldn't have come with a K&N I would have an AEM in it.

The AFE Dry Flow I'm using on the Vette is great; buddy of mine had an AEM filter on his Supra. Never had an issue.

I do however have a Spectre (the large filter) on the pickup. It needs a MAF here soon, maybe I should switch it...
