Strong storm came into town on sunday 6-1-08 in the morning // beginning afternoon. Was not on until.l 3:10 today 6-3-08

FU*K you aep pso. Tulsa has one of the worst power grid infrastructure its bad when in late december over half a million people were with out power in oklahoma in which 260k in tulsa were with out power for 3 weeks. Had to bring in electrical crews from 4 other states to help patch the work.

5 months later a thunder storm with 50-60 mph winds knocks out power to 50k+ 3 days later now i finally have power again. Get this they had to hire the same electrical companies back to help get power restored once again.

So i say this Screw you PSO.....

**This is a testament on why we should have under ground power

Which is why we are working to get it underground... But it costs alot of money... I work for PSO. I also work in the distribution division that is responsible for overhead to underground conversions and lines down calls... And the reason we had to bring in line crews from other states is because we don't have the man power on our staff and it wouldn't make any sense to have that many employees all the time on our payroll. Unless of coarse you wanna pay for it. PSO has actually been losing money for the last several years because we haven't raised our rates to compensate for the increase in fuel cost. Although other states have. But we are now. A company cannot account for or know when to expect such events as ice storms and high winds... I was working along with hundreds and hundreds of other employees to get YOUR power back on...16 hours of sleep...in 7 days, thats what most of these guys got... Didn't get to go home and see their families... While you guys were sleepin... somewhere, we were out in the crap dealing with the dangers and pressures of the job, tired, sleep deprived, hungry, cold, aching, so you could watch your TV in a warm environment...So, I say....You're welcome...

It is bad when news crews interview some of these other companies that come in and they flat out say our system is a crap shoot and cant believe in how bad of shape it is in.

I do feel for the other companies that had to come out to patch our system. then had to come out only months later to do it all over again.

Go to another state with worse ice storms then us, do you hear stories of taking 3 weeks to get power on. NO...

Our system is old and fragile and yes does need to be replaced. It has proven it can no longer hold up to oklahoma weather and is also having a hard time delivering even constant power.

After power outages my biggest complaint is power fluctuations. on avg my power drops below 100 volts 5-6 a day but only for 10-15 seconds and again there are times it is fine.

That is why on my home theater system i have a 3400va UPS // Power regulator. And a smaller version on my pc.

Tulsa's system is in need of replacement, PSO realizes that and has been working on it for a while now. People don't understand how much money and manpower and time it takes to just go in and replace stuff. You all look at it like some wires on a pole. The problem is that Tulsa has many different systems of voltages and phases and equipment has to be replaced in a certain order. You can't just go and switch it out. Alot of older neighborhoods are on a 4kv system from back in the 40's and 50's when having an A/C unit running outside their house wasn't common. Since the demand wasn't high for more kv's neighborhood's were not supplied with that power. So if a person wanted A/C back then they had to have 3phase, which a whole nother story. So, now you have all these cluster's of houses with a hodge podge of different circuits, from all different times of history. When we convert a neighborhood from overhead to underground and there are a mixture of single phase and 3 phase then we either have to run a separate line to their house (more money) or, we have to convert their house, which involves buying them a new HVAC unit for their house and converting it (also more money). I'm not going to go into anymore details. I am going to say this. PSO is a wonderful company, both as an employer, and as a utility provider. Oklahomans have been paying far less than they should have because PSO has not increased their rates to coinside with the increase of fuel and other resources needed to make power. Unfortunately, PSO's hopes that the prices of their resources would go down, so they wouldn't have to increase rates, didn't happen and now they are having to make increases all of a sudden, which seems like alot. But what everyone doesn't realize is PSO raised thier rates just as much as every other electric company in the US. They just did it over 2 months instead of 2 decades. And other areas do have the same reliability issues we have here. And in some cases theirs are more frequent... Oh, and as far as the whole using outside contractors for the ice storm. It, also cost less money than if all of them were PSO line crews... Like half! So, double the cost of PSO's repairs during the ice storm... Would you want to pay that back... PSO is doing everything they can to keep costs down. If you worked here then you would understand that. At the same time, we are also trying to provide our customers with more reliable service. But it takes time and money...
