Especially with me - I have one broken-ass family. My grandfather (86, alzheimers, dimensia, and not much energy), mother (horse-riding accident, fell off her belgian draft horse and crushed her tibia/femur right through her patella), and little brother (spine fusion surgery from Taekwondo, plus falling off a loading dock, but his fall being broken by his leg catching onto the truck and ripping things out of place) ALL have handicapped tags because they're all jacked up
How I stay sane / healthy, I have no clue
I have had a spinal fusion, a level II fusion. The bottom vertebrae (L4, L5, S1) are all fused together...that hurt too. Titanium rods, a bone graph from my hip to cover it. and I think I got like 6 screws to hold it all together.
Dang that sucks. I have 3 Herniated disks in my neck. I have been avoiding surgery until I have to. I hear too many horror stories of people being worse off after surgery. Robbie, are you any better or worse with the surgery? My doctor told me to hold off until I felt it was a last option. He said I'll need it eventually.
I share in the pain. I have cervical and lumbar issues, from several car wrecks, and they werent even my fault. I was in an MR2 and the firewall saved me. I was sitting still at a red light when a wood-paneled station wagon hit me from behind and it was doing about 50, which was like 100, @ impact point. I have the herniated disks, permanent nerve damage, very little of an SI joint left in the right hip. I have one disk that is protruding into my spinal chord. Surgeon said we could operate, but if he flinches, I'd be paralyzed. Migraines are a way of life.......and are tolerated, with medicine. So, I keep it to myself......tough things out and endure.....see my limits fast-approaching, as I get older. Oh, and to add to the excitement, I only have one kidney that works (the right one developed a stone..the largest the doc had ever seen, and it damaged the inside to where the kidney wont work). I now keep UTI's and maintain a bleeding bladder. Urologist wants me to see a nephrologist to try to determine why that kidney developed the stone, so it can hopefully be stopped and not happen to the other one, or else I may get a 98 Daytona......beautiful blue.......casket.
And, for fun.........I work 50 hrs a week in a highly stressful job (that I actually do enjoy), now working for 1 full time and 4 part time Attorney Generals.
And I live for AUTOFAIRS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The will to survive is truly amazing.
And yes, FAMILY COMES FIRST!!! I have none left........and miss her dearly.
HUG SOMEONE U LOVE TODAY............and EVERY DAY!
Dont wait for the eulogy to tell them how much they mean to you.
I will have to say I am better (so far) after this surgery. I had a couple of discectomies that didn't last....but the fusion has been good. But the back is a little different than the neck. I think I would hold off as long as I could as well. I was losing feeling and movement in my legs, so I kinda had to.
I wanna go to the fair of autos.
Who's ready for drinking!!?? ME!!!!!! hahahahaha
Less than a month!!!! Its lookin pretty good for me!!!
Im gettin a new CV axle for the pass. side, just fixed my fuel pump Saturday. So now I'll just get my oil and transmission fluid changed, rotate the tires, and get it cleaned up real good, and I'm ready!!
