The engine on my 1998 grand prix SE has 178,000 miles on it and i'm looking for some used engines with less miles on it. Any pointers? It's a 3.1 V6

scroll down the page a little bit and there are a bunch of "for sale" sections you can look in you just need to have 25 posts before you can start a thread in them. other than that, i'm sure you could hit up some junkyards, 3800's and 3100's both were used in a ton of GM vehicles
Yeah, most any junkyard should have both the 3.1 and the 3.8's, the one my engine came from have over 20.
Just make sure to look around for the best deal/lowest miles. I spent 3 days all over the state trying to find a good engine under 50k miles, but it was well worth it.
i think a lot of people recommend moradpartscompany.com
thanks for the help guys. I was thinking about a crate engine what do you think?
depends on what you're looking for really. are you trying to build this up for performance then buying a fully built brand new crate motor would be the way to go. but if you're going to DD it then i don't think you'll need to spend that kinda money on a replacement motor. if you manage to find a 3.1 or a 3.8 with around 100,000 miles than it will probably outlast the body and chassis of your car
the current engine in it is outlasting the body from the harsh alaskan winters, from the salt always on the ground and just from how close i was to the sea, the body started falling apart. Nothing bondo and aluminum siding can't fix!
yeah. i dont really mind it. i had to change one of my tires and chunks of the car started falling off. It's still a work in progress but at least the frame is in good shape
do a 350 swap
yeah. i was thinking that but by the time i got the car it was too late. i'm gonna be junkin it soon due to the fact that there is too much body rust and looking over the frame it's going now too. i'm looking for a newer gp. if any of you hear anything, let me know.
