Key Stuck, Car Dead, and...Battery Good, Alternater good
Hello everyone,
I have a 2001 Grand Prix (3.8 L, not sure if this matters)....and recently it randomly decides to not start. After being in park, I get in to start it, get a short click noise, then nothing(!); then key is stuck in ignition and no way to get out, no way to lock doors, and nothing has power...windows, lights, etc. I open the hood, disconnect and reconnect the battery and car starts (and runs) fine as if nothing is wrong with it. This may happen three times in a couple of weeks or it may not happen for a month or two. The battery and alternator have power (and since car starts up right away after disconnecting/reconnecting battery, this makes sense). I am hoping that someone can offer some suggestions as to what is causing this problem and what the recommended course of action might be. The only thing that I have tried is cleaning the battery terminals/connection. This did not seem to help as the car died again shortly after this attempt at correcting the problem.
Thank you to any and all who take time to read this and offer suggestions.
Izzy

Did you test the batt? Maybe your batt is dying? Don't take my word I am still a noob in training....

do you have a mutlimeter to test volts with?
Re: Key Stuck, Car Dead, and...Battery Good, Alternater good
old thread but do you still have this problem? I had a similar problem with my car and it ended up being the pos wire going into the battery was just coming loose every so often. I got a washer and tightened the wire back up and haven't had a problem since and that was about a year and a half ago.

I had this issue on my 99 Dodge Ram were the key would get stuck in the Ignition and steering wheel column would not move at all Until I pressed the brake and put it in Neutral the key fell right out
