Is there a scanner you can use with a PDA or Laptop and just have to buy a cable? I know there was free software out there when I had my camaro but I can't remember what it was called. Thanks.

Well, really, just about any of them will allow you download the software for free, but the software wont work without their hardware in most cases. With that, most of the major scan tool vendors have software that will work with laptops especially and some with PDA's. AutoTap is one that does. Just be sure that the scanner you get has GM enhanced parameter capability or you will not be able to monitor for KR. If you want to do a bit more research, check out the links below.

You may be able to find a LS1M used. It was a very reasonably price scanner that worked really well. You could order it with or without a PDA. I used mine on a laptop.

click>> LS1M I'm pretty sure Mark keeps the website up for support, but no longer sells these.
I have been trying to gather momentum to build one for a PDA, but having trouble getting the protocols for the existing hardware (PT, LS1M) and open sourcing it.
But, for the time being, this is probably the cheapest and maybe the fastest one out there, and updates are free.

The interface is kind of hard to follow, and only works with laptops, but the guy knows his stuff apparently.
