If he really wanted to change fan settings twice a year, it would be way cheaper just to get 2 different pcms.

Omg... Take it easy! No need to get your hair all up n a bunch... It is the INTERNET ya' know!

All in all, if you want to spend some money to play, it's your call. I bought an Overkill tune and liked it for the time I used it, was worth the $. But like everything when you begin to MOD your car/engine, you'll want more... So again, I'll just reiterate, you PAY to PLAY. You like to tinker, you'll love HPT. Go for it!

Your sig would suggest you know a thing or two about these cars, perhaps it needs to be bigger.

As is, this thread justifies your opinion of GPF.

OP: fan on off doesn't do anything. Coolant isn't flowing, the only coolant that is being cooled is that which is in the rad when the car is shut down.

Contact a vendor and they will do all of the little things you want for a fraction of the price.

To all: All of the "endless" things you think you would tweak, you'll only tweak for a short while until you find your happy medium. There really isn't much to change in a 3800 PCM either. Air and fuel models are really basic, trans controls are basic, and everything else is hidden from HPT. Only accessible via DHP/TT. DHP is also less expensive.

It will give you access to a lot more tables, and it's free to use, instead of costing $100 a car.

I always suggest its better supported, and you get more options when dealing with top swap cars/swaps/custom turbo junk. If I had unlimited HPT I would still be forced to use DHP for 95% of what I do because I am always changing PCM files around and using tinytuner on already modded cars.

I've got enough cars unlocked with HPT that I can tune most 97-02 cars without having to buy the credits anymore. But, like you said, I still keep DHP around for changing stuff with TinyTuner where HPT doesn't have the tables I need.

They have been out of business for a few years. The only thing you can do is watch the classifieds for used.

Cleaned up the thread. PM's/points to follow.

DHP is kinda like tuning with rocks. Until someone walks you through or you read through your eyes bleeding and then learn about the add on tools that others created to make it better, it's likely not going to make you feel like you spent money wisely.
When DHP was in business they charged by the vehicle as well. You also have to find the bins that were unlocked since DHP is OSID or operating software specific. It is a serious pain in the rump for anyone new to it. The powertuner site (I hear it's currently down) is a good resource, if you can get answers.

I see HPT as more of a tool than this platform. I can tune all sorts of cars with HPT that DHP didn't support. HPT unlocks every OSID that GM supports. If you come across one, you send it to HPT and in as little as 5 minutes to about 12 hours, they send you a version that supports it. They aren't doing much for our platform anymore, but they are still supporting the people that purchased tuners. HPT will not let you change VIN on an OS ID from an approved list. Like typically you can't put an NA OSID with a VIN that is an SC car. DHP couldn't care less what you tell it the Vin is.

That said, I have both. Custom work is easiest with DHP. And easiest to tune with HPT.
I drink..so consider that when reading my posts.
