Hey guys my friend is soon to start on a new xp cam build and want to use an l26 bottom end. Could someone help me out with a base tune file for the build so we can at least drive the car until we get it dyno tuned? Thank you. DHP TUNER.

I would strongly reconsidering the L26. Too many have a poor track record with problems

What block do you suggest is better? L26 blocks are the cheapest on car-parts.com

What about tuning for the higher compression?

Its not that easy to just adjust pulley. This is the problem with misinformation. the design of the pistons and the rods will have issues even with moderate builds

Recently, Swiggles....after badgering me to turbo....mentioned that the rings on L26's are apparently a tighter tolerance than any of the other blocks. Therefore any additional boost/heat tears up the pistons.
I drink..so consider that when reading my posts.

The question was about tuning around compression, not short block durability.

You've already made it clear here:

    Gotcha.
What was in the safely modding thread that turned you away here?

    Not sure what ever happened.

Regardless, the L26 is crap compared to the L36. Toothpick rods, piston assploding issues like Bill mentioned....etc, etc, etc, etc, etc.

Local popped an L26 with a GenV, 2.8", E85, heads/cam...blahblah. You know, probably north of 350~ WHP. They don't hold up. Bottom line, ask Dark Horizon how many L26's he has trashed.

Get an L36, they're cheaper anyways.

Actuially Nick, L26's are super cheap here. L36's are tough to find and yards think 160K mile L36 is worth some gold bullion
I drink..so consider that when reading my posts.

I killed one but it was making over 500whp for about 20k miles.

Taking it easy on one would be more than fine... keep the timing low.

How bad do you want an l36.................?
I happen to know where at least 6 are that are going to 400 and less each depending on the mileage
It even pains me to let this out because I know I plan on buying at least 2 and they are in a climate controlled warehouse and unadvertised to the public around here so I'm 110% sure they won't be going anywhere anytime soon.
Ohhh btw I have got 3 engine from this same person already my 4 door has had 2 l36s I believe the 1st had coolant in the oil somehow and exploded shortly after I got it. (Yes I changed the oil before putting in but 50% of the main bearings going bad sure seems like coolant was in the oil at one time.) The 2nd came from an impala and my gutted 2 door that I got has a l67 from the only sc car he had.

Long story short let me know if you want one and I have no idea what shipping is from grand forks nd.

Edit Oops I forgot I put one from an impala in a 2000 park ave too so make that 4 I've got. PA swap required the some parts off the old engine but nothing major. I did this for a bodyshop here and they wouldn't believe me that the damn engine would fit until it was running because some minor things had to be changed lol guess that's why they are a body shop..............
