I'm considering buying a tuner in the near future.. What is the best place to purchase HP tuners? I know ZZP sells them, but are there "better" deals out there?

There was an interesting chat going on yesterday about this. The guy found a company selling the MPVI Pro on Ebay for $584 vs it's typical cost of $650. Then I went onto HPT and saw they had a special if you bought from a qualified vendor, you get two free credits in addition to the 8 that come with it. Technically if you use your 8, then that's worth $100. If that ebay guy is qualifed..that could mean getting it for about $484 after all the savings.
I drink..so consider that when reading my posts.

    anywhere but HPTs website....

You are going to want to find a vendor... Intense actually has the best deals on HPT I have typically seen around the internet.

That is good to know Bill.. Question: I don't understand the whole credit part. Is it 1 credit per car that is tuned?

Take a look at their credit per vehicle page.
HPTuners.com >> Performance At Your Fingertips

And make sure you read up on upgrade credits. That's a key if you are ever going to tune another car from the same year.

Dunno why you wouldn't want to purchase from HPT unless they cost more than most vendors.

    Each credit cost $50

Thanks again Bill, now I have a better understanding of how the credit system works. Never even thought to myself to look on their actual website.. lol. Would you recommend buying a tuner over simply finding someone to tune my car who already owns one? I'm in the process of gathering parts for my cam/gen v swap and am concerned about tuning it. Couldn't I just pay for additional credits for someone else's tuner if I found someone who knows how to tune and is willing to tune my car? Or do you think it would be more beneficial to buy my own tuner?

Well.. you could do it either way. Ideally though you want to retune a couple times a year.

Max recently mentioned he purchased an HPT. I have an HPT.

Right. technically the tune for 10F with low humidity is different than 90F with a ton of humidity.

    I asked them this question.

    Dear tunertools,

I was curious if you were a licensed vendor with HP Tuners so that this offer would be valid?

    Dear rynoman_03,

Yes, Tuner Tools LLC is a licensed reseller / dealer for HPTuners and this special offer will be honored by them.

    EDIT:

I just revisited the ebay link and it's at the normal price now. Probably just a Cyber Monday pricing... I've yet to find anyone giving any deals other than the EBAY link above and that was a one time deal. I've been on the hunt for a few weeks now.
