is there anybody around chicago that can give me a tune, im putting on a 3.4 pulley and 1.8 rockers so it should be pretty easy

If it should be that easy, you should pick up a tuner and just tune it yourself.
Do I sound a bit miffed? I am.
I dont mean to come down on you but I've read multiple threads in the past two days on clubgp where people yap about 'tuning' without knowing a god damn thing about it.
If by 'easy' you mean no physical labor, then yes... you are correct. It will be 'easy.'
Tuning a car takes a lot more than 1 session of scanning and writing a file. That reason is enough that I refuse to help tune anybodies car other than my own. I will happily scan for them, but I have no desire to get caught up in the situation where something breaks on the car and the person blames it on the 'expert' tune they got.
My car runs like a top because I spent literally WEEKS getting it to where I feel is safe and reliable.
I dunno... maybe most other people that tune thier own cars just have a lot more time on thier hands than I do? I dunno
/rant.
Sorry for being a prick, but thanks for letting me vent. :-D
i agree with what youre saying shafer, but im kind of in the same boat. im willing to learn how to tune, but its expensive and i really just dont have the time to do it. im actually about to go to a canned tune and then just tweak it with my afc and a happy knob i just bought.
fuel and timing control are my main things that i want to play with. everything else is just too far above my head to start playing with it and blow my car up because of it.
Everybody says its expensive, but it costs less than a good new motor, so buying the tuner and taking the time to learn was my priority. Rockers and a pulley are a lot to tune, cause you have more boost, and more air in and out of the cylinders, there are hundreds of things that can and may need to be changed, and it would be irresponsible of someone to just throw a quick tune into someone else's car......
If you want a custom tune, do it yourself and going to a "professional shop" are the only two options in my book (unless you got a realy good friend who will take the hours and hours of time it takes to dial in a tune)
That said....We aren't trying to be mean, just trying to let you know why few if any will tune someone else's car. Good luck with the install
those are the two that can blow up your motor
I got your back xhonda, I am on the same boat as you. I got a pre-tuned PCM and a aeroforce scan gauge to check for knock and other parameters but everyone I know says that a tune will help me optimize the rockers. The problem is that I dont know ANYTHING about tuning. I am not very car savy either. I understand that its good to take the time out and learn but the problem w/ that is if you dont know what you are doing then how do you know its right? Obviously if you have hours to devote to tuning then go for it. With all of this being said I will still end up just getting HP Tuners and learning what the hell is going on w/ my car. Does anyone know if HP Tuners is better than Power Tuner? What do you all recommend.
yes the histrograms and the maf tuning is easier....not easier to tune on the car...that will be the same...but easier to perform on the tuner...like when actually copying any pasting and using the past special multiply by percent ect. plus current upgrades. they just upgradded to version 2.22 the other day.
