so i bought an 01 gp gt.. I wanted to get a tuned pcm for it.. i narrowed it down to 2 choices (overkill, intense) i was about to order from intense but I don't know which to get or how to order the right one...

if I go to the intense website it gives me a few choices i dont understand..

Stock WOT ignition timing tables - ideal for supercharged vehicles where 91 or 92 octane fuel is the highest available
Increase WOT ignition timing tables by up to 1 degree - ideal for naturally aspirated vehicles with any premium fuel, or supercharged vehicles with stock camshaft where 93 or 94 octane fuel is readily available (<b>+$20.00</b>)
Increase WOT ignition timing tables by up to 2 degrees - ideal for naturally aspirated vehicles with any premium fuel, or supercharged vehicles with stock camshaft where 93 or 94 octane fuel is readily available (<b>+$20.00</b>)

which one of those do i check off?

    also on intense.. it says

Leave WOT shift points at stock settings - ideal for vehicles .with stock rocker arms and camshaft (<b>+$20.00</b>)
Increase WOT shift points to approximately 6,000 RPM and engine rev limiters to 6,200 RPM - ideal for vehicles with higher ratio rocker arms and stock camshaft

would it be okay to check off the second of the two? shifts points to 6k?

so what should i go for.. the intense or overkill.. i really don't want to make the wrong choice.

this will be the first mod on the car.. and i dont plan on doing too many mods because it's just a gt.. thanks for the help

depending upon your mods it may not be a bad idea to pump up the WOT timing a little for a little more pep in the car. i would also increase the shifts to 6k for sure.

that's what i figured.. but im not sure i really want to mod the car that much.. i just bought a cai from one of our members.. but that really doesn't do much.. and i'm probably not going to mod it more than just the pcm and cai.. only other things i might do are headers or a downpipe. that being said.. how many degree's of timing should i advance it?

I was wondering the same thing... Ha
I will probably upgrade the rockers, at a later date (when I have the $$$)
would it be ok to "Increase WOT shift points to approximately 6,000 RPM and engine rev limiters to 6,200 RPM - ideal for vehicles with higher ratio rocker arms and stock camshaft" but still run stock rockers for awhile? I plan on getting a PCM first, 3" dp, CAI, 180* t-stat, thinkin about the 3.4 pully (doing the support mods first) and colder plugs. Did I miss anything important?

DHP is more of a general tune than anything. it will help, but hurt you more later on because it will be running so rich.

yeah man.. i dont want that.. i want to be able to get a pcm that won't hurt my engine (if that's even possible) I'm not going to really be modding too much, i want to have the car for at least another 100k.

Running rich won't hurt your engine, it just might cost you a little top end HP.

The best mail order PCM is the Overkill PCM. Other than that you need an in car tune or a dyno tune.

where can you get that done?

and with the overkill pcm, you just send your core back to him right?

What, an in car or a dyno tune? For the in car tune, you need a tuner or you need to know someone with a tuner. For the dyno tune, any place that knows how to tune and has a dyno.

Yep. Some people keep the cores as a backup, since occasionally PCMs do go belly up.
