    Did a little more cleaning today. Also ordered a crap ton of parts.

    Knock sensor harness
    Throttle body gasket

    Pulled the knock sensors and valley cover. So much corrosion...



    Looks like PO kept up on oil changes fairly well. Not bad for 150k motor.

    Something is wrong with that list, it shows a 4.3 V6 with a 4L60e and 3.08 gears. Not that they aren't real RPO codes, they just wouldn't match with a 3/4 ton truck is all.

    Ha! Sorry. I should have said those are from the S10, not the Silverado that donated it's drive train.

    Small update. Nothing exciting. Got the valley cover gasket, front cover gasket with new balancer seal, and rear cover with new crank seal installed. Waiting on knock sensors, valve cover gaskets, and the swap pan. Spent a lot of time just cleaning. Considered painting some stuff, but decided against it. Just want a simple clean factory look.





    Drilled the t-stat. Supposed to make bleeding way easier, and I'm not really worried about running too cold with this setup.

    Decided to hang on to the TB spacer. It'll make a nice nitrous plate, if I decide to go down that road.

    Not worth it, torco is just a added cost.

    Just run mid grade 89 octane and it will handle a good amount of timing, 87 is too prone to spark knock. Also timing isn't everything, don't get it why so many think it's a must to run on the edge of knock just for that minimal gain of ~10hp.

    Fixed. Haha!

    Started researching different options for the steam pipe. Looks like I could either drill and tap the water pump, put a "T" in the upper radiator hose, or put a fitting in the radiator. I'm leaning toward tapping the water pump. Cheap, clean, and easy. Lots of people are saying it won't work, but everyone who has actually done it says is't working fine...

    Old pan and windage tray off.



    New tray, dipstick and pickup tube installed. Mint gasket surface.



    Only got to test fit the pan before I had to stop to grill the chicken.



    I think this will get my front/rear alignment close enough.
