Please tell me you're running it without any exhaust hooked up.
that would make me so happy. lol

It'll have manifold and the exhaust pictured it looks like.

It just needs a few things to run smoothly, he could even put revert to speed density if he doesn't want to create a intake for it or slap the MAF on the throttle body.

I hacked the exhaust pipe just after the front O2's, so the computer still has those to look at. I was going to run without the MAF on the stand.

Alright, leave it plugged in and it's easy enough to fail the MAF in the tune to enable speed density. If you unplugged it the built in IAT sensor would go straight to -40 and might cause running problems.

You're saying, plug the MAF in, but leave it hanging so the PCM will default to SD

    OR

I need to change something in the tune to run SD?

A little of both. Leave it plugged in so it doesn't read -40 ambient intakes temps and leave it hanging, then change like 4 things in the tune and it will run in speed density without issue.

I can show you what to change, it's really easy. You'd take these same steps if you ever were to tune the primary VE table with your wideband. Anything can be switched back too when you have a full intake setup in a vehicle.

I'd appreciate that. Then, like you say, I can go back to the "stock" tune after it's in the vehicle with a real intake.

I decided to to take the absolute simplest route for the stand run.

It looks like it's pointing into the engine

Which is usually where the air flows

Ha! Yeah. It's going away in the final build. It would be gone already, but I need different length screws.

Trying to keep it simple for now. Final build will be fancy.

There's an all original always Arizona '78 Malibu coupe on craigslist right now. White with blue interior. Guy is asking $1900, but said he'd sell for $1700 in an email exchange. Think I might drive out and look at it if he still has it this weekend.

    That could be interesting... lol

I think a nice gloss black would make that Malibu look mean as hell, and it could definitely be a sleeper.
