you know what fixes wheel hop dont ya??????? yup a 4 link lol

back in the 80s a guy in town had a luv with a 350 with a muncie 4 speed and lots of NOS. he tore rear ends out like it was a game to see if it would hold. till he made a 4 link set up.

the box of busted U joints he had in the back said it all.

Cal-tracs work great on leaf springs trucks.

That was the plan. I've recently stumbled on "Assasin" traction bars. Slightly cheaper, more adjustability. Looking into these as well.

you own a welder, and know how to use it, thats 1/2 the battle. 4 links is heim joints bolts and brackets and pipes. then a pair of coil overs.

thats not a bad start is it? http://www.ebay.com/itm/like/3907491...&ul_noapp=true im sure theres a bracket kit out there, then the pipe and coils or coil overs.

Well, it's debatable whether or not I actually know how to use the welder. Haha! I can be into a set of CalTracs for under $400 and be done with it in an afternoon. I may go hog wild someday and do a 4 link and all that jazz, just not there yet. It's just a street truck for now.

if you start ripping the rear end out, well you know what to do. even friends with vegas and v8 swaps back in the day left the rear ends in the street time to time.

Make your own truck arm setup one day? CalTrac style is the shiz. An extra leaf on the front half might be an idea too. Of course there's that large "weight box" out back, too. Park your ATV in the bed, might cut a quicker ET that way. Just give yourself plenty of room when you go to jail the cops... they can sniff out them donuts, man.

Edit- man that dang tablet, ugh. HAIL the cops, not jail.

Don't feel too bad Bill. Those tires will soon be internet famous. Plus, how would you rather go out... Being quietly and slowly worn down by the day to day commute, OR in a glorious symphony of roaring exhaust and smoke?

Well I got the speedo fixed. Had to swap a couple wires at the PCM. All IPC gauges work now. I think... Still not 100% confident in the fuel gauge. Won't know for sure until I actually fill it at the pump. I'll hit the gas station on the way to the exhaust shop, but I'm happy for now!

Get your viral wall cloud but watch the speedo, man. Seen a left rear blow and remove all of the bed floor behind the wheelwell of a square S10. Didn't get airborne because hard bed cover but it was ripped out at the welds. Burnout contest, I took 2nd. Hang it on the rev limiter and pray if you're going for first! I'd almost rather smokeshow with cheap freshys than roast unknowns. Be mentally prepared for yeah unmanageable wheel hop or tires that just won't smoke too. I have no doubt you'll be smart about it. As far as life goes, I believe in the sliding into home plate with not another step left in me. And that wraps a weekend of rampant IDJ forum posts.

Well, exhaust guy is busy till the middle of next week. In the meantime, I'm going to make sure my tow dolly is up to snuff, and ready to go.

Also looking into the S-Blazer dual piston front brake swap. The pads on my truck are getting thin so they'll need to be replaced soon. Might as well upgrade while I'm in there. Should be able to get the whole setup from the Pull-a-part for a decent price.

Got a chance to test out the tow dolly yesterday. All the lights work, even the magnetic ones. Straps held tight. Most everything went well. Didn't like the noises it made going around corners. Sounded like it was binding. So I took the top off and greased the pivot point and wear surfaces. Floats like butter now!

The photo gives me an idea for an adventure / test after you find some S10 traction but still have this rearend. Viral smoky tug-o-war. Then you can build a TurboHydramatic! (if black one is auto)

$.02 I've never had much luck towing backwards on a dolly. But all my vehicles has sloppy steering systems at the time of tow. They like to whipsaw back and forth at various speeds.

I'd be interested in seeing how that played out. The black truck is an '84 K10 w/ a (tired) 350/700r4. It would have a definite weight advantage and IF i put it in 4 low, better gearing.

I hear you. My muffler shop is only 3 miles away from my house. Worse case scenario, I could drive at a crawl and still make it there in a reasonable amount of time. If I had to go any real distance or any faster speed, I would tow it forward. I just don't feel like pulling the driveshaft for that short trip. I'll keep a close eye on it though.

Well here's yesterday's junkyard haul. Think I did pretty well. $130 OTD for everything.

Got two GTP fuel injectors to pair with the six I already have. I'll rebuild them at some point in the future. Should be a nice and cheap upgrade from the factory truck injectors. Math shows them to be about 30% larger.

Got left and right windshield trim pieces. Old ones turned brittle as glass and just fell apart when I took them off to get at the hood hinge screws. Arizona sun...

And the real reason I went to the yard; The dual piston front brake setup. I got lucky here. Of the 7 or 8 viable Blazers, Jimmys, and Bravadas, only one was a 2wd. Removal was pretty easy. Pads look like they have a lot of friction material left, and the bearings feel good. Not sure if they're original, but they're Timkin. Everything is already taken apart and being cleaned. Caliper rebuild and hardware kits are on order.

A little superclean and some elbow grease works wonders. A quick shot from a rattle can for the dust shields and call it good.

Honestly, it's less about looks, and more because I hate working on dirty/greasy stuff.
