Trying to help a friend locate a used trans for his 2002 Impala with the 3.4L. I know it's a 4T65-E, but need to verify what gears are in it (if different from a GP GT). If not the 2.93's then how can I tell what ratio it currently has in it?

Tag is one, you could pull the sungear and count teeth.
Although a sure way to know you are good is to swap the diff/sungear over and then you can use any NA trans.
Thanks guys. I'll have them look for the tag and go that route. Car is at a shop somewhere and they're trying to wring 3k out of him for a rebuild.
I look on car-part for any 4T65 in an NA car 98-02 for that, then swap the diff if needed after counting teeth. I don't even look at gear ratio when buying. Just go on mileage and price. Then deal with ratio at the diff.
When flipping Imp's over the last year I have nabbed many $100 right about 100K transmissions.
I'm gonna check car-part and craigslist around here and see what comes up. Can't see paying more than $3-400 for one if low miles.
