I don't mind the 4 door. It's a new era and not everyone wants to spend that kind of cash on a 2 door car when they have kids etc. look at cars like the g8, cts, etc. Good power and 4 door what's not to like.

Make it black.
Up displacement to 3.8 L for the GNX only. (All others GM cars stick with 3.6 L)
Coupe only.
Launch during the release of the new Star Wars trilogy.
Darth Vader, your car is ready.
....it's the same engine (which has been known since the beginning of the year) that will be in the 2014 CTS-Vsport and XTS, as well as the rumored ATS-V. Throwing that same engine in a Regal and calling it a GNX is just an afterthought. The 2.0T I4 and 3.6 n/a V6 are also available in most of the Caddy line up.
Except the G8, CTS, etc. are not iconic nameplates that represented a significant milestone in GM history. I doubt anyone has a problem with a 4-door having plenty of performance and power. What people are having a problem with is calling such a car a GN or GNX. Obviously not everyone wants to spend a ton of cash on a 2-door, but if they're willing to spend it on a 4-door, they already have options with the same engine in them (considering this set up is going to push the price tag into Cadillac territory). So what's the point of having yet another 4-door with the same engines that are available in several other sport-luxury GMs?
It's already only going to come in black according to that article, and GM is not going to build a whole other engine just for that one car. It's one thing to make improvements upon a preexisting engine (as they did to the 3.8L for the original GN). It's a whole other to basically make a new engine out of it altogether. They're not going to spend that kind of money on different parts for a 1 car motor. No one would pay the price they'd need to charge to recover their costs, much less be profitable.
Who cares its just a name..nobody is forcing you to buy one. If folks are getting butthurt over it being called a GNX because of the classic they need to worry about something else. It's just a name.. Either make adjustments and live in the present or continue buying/driving older cars and living in the past.
Debadge it then = mission accomplished

It's just a name.
It's just like every other GM product that shares the same chassis/engine/interior etc with just minor changes.
Its more than a name. What if GM stopped making RWD Vettes and introduced a new FWD platform and built a car they badged as a Vette on said platform?
But its going to be RWD. Said it will be on the same rear drive as the next gen Camaro and CTS which are both RWD. The only difference is going to be the motor, and I think with the TT 3.6L it may work out well. but they do need to bring out all the badassery GM can muster because the reason the GNX was only 1 year was because they realized the cheaper GNX was beating up on the flagship Corvette.
Now, as it stands I don't see the new GNX setup coming close to even touching a new C7 much less beating it, considering they are in the works already of making the C7 faster with next years model. This makes me sad, it will be fast, but in all likelyhood it will be put in 4ish place behind the CTS-V, Camaro, and the Corvette. So nostalgia wins because it won't be supercar rated, just rare and titled properly. Unless GM makes it really limited and takes the potential losses on the other cars sales to allow this to be a 1 year OMG WTH BUY ME TODAY awesome car.
I just don't see it and hope for the old GNX namesake it only stays as a concept... but worse things have happened.
The GNX was menacing and black. It meant business. That pic of the beginning of this thread is crap. Looks like a driving miss daisy luxury sedan...
Now this is a totally different story...
Probably won't happen because that is a Opel Monza Concept with the Buick "Waterfall" Grille. But still sexy. I'd rock it.

If you truly feel "it's just a name", then you are not a car enthusiast. It is the equivalent to saying Air Jordan, or Muhammad Ali is "just a name", the same as yours. Obviously from a definition standpoint, they are all names. However, it is what those first 2 names are identified with that gives them far more significance than yours. YOUR name would be considered "just a name", where as MJ's and Ali's name represents excellence of the highest level, supremacy and total domination. Anyone compared to, or being called the next MJ or Ali better have those same traits, eg Kobe is damn good (just like this new Regal), but he's no where near MJ's level (as the Regal isn't on the GN's level).
Mentalities like yours are exactly why this country has gone down the toilet, and will completely crumble in another 5 - 10 years (IF that), because it's not just about this car, or cars in general. It's the mantra for EVERYthing that's become sh1tty. Instead of protesting the lowering of standards, the raping of legacy, the creative laziness, etc., you tell people to forget the past, live in the present and just go along with it? As George Carlin said many times, this country is finished. The last few generations of this nation have sealed its fate. There is no more heart or passion in anything we do here. Everything is an extremely cheap tactic or ploy for money, and that's how great nations fall.
i heart you rare.
Lol lets calm it down here guys. Namingthis car the GNX will not cause our great nation to implode. Its GMs name and they can stick it where they please. All honesty I only car on how it handles, drives, ect. Call it a chevy metro if you want, but if that car can make me feel like I'm driving an amazing car that is good then I don't care lol. I think this will be a good car imo, they said rwd, black, and tt v6. So what's wrong with this car?
