Unless you found a non-raced 69 ZL1 for 4500, it's not worth fretting over.
You can and will find another car when you have the money.

How to save money. When payed, put most of it in a bank account and take out just enough from your paycheck for cash that you will be able to survive off
My first car was a '82 Riviera for only 200 dollars. Ugly but runs. I replaced it a year later with '85 S-10, also ugly but ran better. The Rivera was starting to knock on the motor, and I hear it blew up a month after I got the truck. (the truck burned down a year later when I got an even better J2000, possibly to gas leak and overheating cat)
The price were back when you could still get a cheap working cars in USA. Before crazy scrap metal price jumped. The economic downturn didn't help lower the used car market prices. You can still find one under $1,000 that runs OK and last at least a year/5,000 miles while you worked to earn and save more money.
Start with something cheap that runs, save up money for something better. Trade up if you need to replace with something that runs better. Sooner or later you'd find a really nice car that is in great shape and you'd have the money you need.
PS if you're going to rely on craigslist, eBay, or just driving for random car FS, always get it checked by a mechanic. Previous owner may not know if there's a serious underlying problem or just outright dishonest.
