American Family insurance is really anal about what they will insure for new/inexperienced drivers. Friend of mine when we were in high school was looking at a Camaro and he went in to get a quote and American Family straight up told him they wouldn't insure him. I would go online to like Progressive or Geico and see what they would give you for a quote.
I think it's bull that parents don't pay for their kids' insurance. Or at least put them on their insurance plan. Just my opinion.
It's kind of a two way street
the rates they charge for new drivers is out of control these days. almost like they dont want you to drive.
and trust me parents can refuse to put you on their policy, my parents saw me ride a bike, and said when i was 15 i need to save up for my own ins, as it would be a cold day in hell before they let me f up their rates lol
NJ has some odd rules, if you have a lic and live with your parents, they auto automatically put your kid on the policy as they just assume the kids driving the cars.
unless you can prove the kid has their own car and ins. this dumb rule also includes roommates. as they can see how many lic drivers are located at your address.
they put my ex's kid on our policy, messed up part was he was 12 years old, and unlicensed lol
What the hell?! 12 years old?! Lololol
When I saw him post F/I I thought to myself "I wonder who the first person to ask why they won't insure a fuel injected car will be?"
Sorry, when you are an old fart like myself you remember when cars could be either.
fords are the only brand ive yet to own, had friends who had mavericks and comets, they were one cheap ass pos car. another friend had a Granada, another pos. i dragged all of them home with my GM car or truck all the time lol
but almost every carb will need a rebuild at some point. at least its some thing you can do your self. not all that bad.
best was you could fail inspection here for high co, turn the mix screws in a turn or 2 go back and pass. id do this in full view of the guys working the inspection too, you could even work on it while they tested it, till it passed. they gave no sh1ts. pass and turn them right back to where it ran good still right in front of them lol
but if your bumper had to much rust, instant fail lol got to love NJ.
Well the 3 carbed cars I have owned were a 75 Chevy Monza, a 85 Ford Bronco II, and a 86 Ford Mustang.
I have had 5 F/I cars. A 87 Dodge Shadow, a 93 Mitsubishi Eclipse, a 93 Eagle Talon TSI, a 94 Dodge Stealth (have owned it since 02), and the Grand Prix.
I don't think I forgot anything, but then again I am getting tired and I have been drinking.
I know where you're going with this and I've been having these thoughts too. But I said to my dad, "I get it, ill just get a civic" And he's like "No dude I want you to have a sweet first car" But he just recently got a Mustang GT and I think he likes all the attention he's getting from it so if I got a sweet car I think he feels like I would take all the attention lmao he's weird.
