I must not have done my updates.

The twin detonator I put some sticky tractor tires on, and although badass, it was like driving around with super sticky slicks. The grip was immense at half throttle and then a punch it would it would flip over, a blip of the throttle at stop and it flips over.
The boy bought a redcat racing volcano epx pro for his bday, this rips dam good for stock no need to go any faster. So I took his original nitro rcx bowie iron track and put the tractor tires on that, but it needs a axle and ya those are never in stock so poo. Detonator also needs a drive cup as the axle busted one with those sticky tires. The torment is still all stock with its 2 min 30 sec lasting stock lipo battery.

I need to find these tractor tires in a harder rubber and a tad wider and it would be a supreme badass tire!

My current crew with the only one road worthy but not worth it for 2min drive time on the left lol. Even the volcano is out with a snapped axle and bent shock lol.

Man. I wish I didn’t find this part of the forum! I have a 4x4 slash, velineon system, can only run 2s max at the local track, and a 5b. Both are in storage at my parents house. The slash is pretty much stock, the 5b though, that thing was a money pit when I was bashing. As of now it has a tr transmission, Stock motor with a 2 mil crank, stock carb, hitec metal gear steering servo, hpi slipper, hostile Mx rear tires and wheels, OEM front tires and wheels, aluminum towers, rpm front and rear arms, ddm pipe for bashing, can’t remember the pipe for the long track runs, but it’s a silenced top end pipe, fan cover brace, k&n air filter, pantyhose prefilter (you read that right).

It’s been about 5 years since I’ve had either one out, I’ll have to dig them out for some pics. If I can get the video off of photobuck, it’s of the 5b jumping my tundra about three days after I bought said tundra brand new (bad decisions were made). I actually had a neighbor complain and call the police when I ran it with my ddm pipe at about 4pm, he had a “heart condition” and it’s disturbing his sleep. Such a prick, he was always whining about something, rc cars, dirt bike on the road, 2am burnouts. Ridiculous. Lmao!

Bowie lost another axle, then the daughter broke some things, acting up so I junked it. Stripped it of parts and gave it to the boy to tear down and learn how things work.

He broke the redcat. needs a diff, axle and chassis.

My tamiya needs a tie rod end. Dam toys

Neighbor gave the boy a old traxxas rustler though, transmitter worked, nothing from the reciever, and the msc had a wire broke off so I took the bowie guts I had and put them on the ruster. Thing rips pretty good for basically stock.

**** this tamiya, broke drive cup, fixed it, broke it again and snapped a screw in half. I think I am just going to demod these dam motors, put something slower on and monster truck tires, I havent had fun with this thing in 5 years. Ecx torment can probably get one set of the motors and have fun with that.

Buy something that isn't super old, uses dated materials and is long discontinued.

These modern rcs will run circles around those old timey cars and keep coming back for more.

No matter what you buy it is going to require some sort of upgrades. If you want something that won't break the bank or require a ton of upgrades check out the Hobao Hyper lineup.

Dated yes, but still badass! The bowie hardened cup I have needs to be shaved a few hundreths and it w ill fit! I fixed the screw and I will hook the programmer back up to the esc's and dial down that initial throttle so its not so dam stupid. ANd I will put 6"tx4"w monster truck tires on it when the time comes.

For now I took one of the lipos out, soldered a new plug on the ecx torment and drove for over 30min non stop today. Havent done that in years. Brushless and metal gears for the ecx and I think I will be golden. Things need to open up so I can try to fl y my plane at a park.
