Having been through 5 Hurricanes, 2 Hail storms (baseball size and bigger), 2 Flash Floods, 2 Earthquakes and 1 Tornado; Tornado's scare the **** out of me more than anything else.

    Here is Before:

    After:

My condolences to the families of the victims involved in this, Tornado's are just something you can never really be ready for.

Cry havoc and let slip the dogs of war.

We have some family friends down there. It's scary to think that you wake up and everything is fine, and in the blink of an eye your entire life is erased. I feel for all of these people.

Yea... that is the 6-7 F3+ to hit that city since 1998, about a dozen more that were even smaller. It is common for them to see at least 1 tornado of some shape/sort per season. The biggest thing is that it hit the school while it was in session and took out a hospital... again.

May 1999 still sets the record at beating OKC stupid as the F5 with 318mph winds tore up 45+ miles for 1 1/2 hours, starting further away and tearing through almost the EXACT SAME STRETCH that this one did, in fact 3rd time since 99 that the same stretch of land was hit, F3 in 03, F5 99 and now the F4/F5 13. The 99 one took out 8000+ homes, killed 46, and did over 1.3 Billion (yes with a B) back in 99. This one is "worse" because it went slow and ground everything in as it went by, but was only on the ground for 45 mins and only tracked 17 miles. The 99 F5 actually hit the same school and 2 others but it was at like 6 o'clock so school was out, this one... not so nice about it.

The green one was the one back from 99, it started a couple miles further back and went about twice as far. Blue is the F3 that hit in 03. But as you can see they went right next to each other. Bad stuff, several people just got houses rebuilt and back to normal and crushed all over again.

It almost makes you wonder if there is something about that area that is a draw for these storms to track right there. The same path. I mean whats the odds??

Meh, its all over that area since before the 50s when they decided to start recording it.

    Tornado History Project: Oklahoma

There have only been 3472, documented (not sure if that is counting the several over the past week yet) since the 50s... in Oklahoma. probably a good 1/4 of them are around the OKC area. If you average it out, evenly spread over 63 years (1950-2013) that's just over 55 tornados per year over the state.... in 2-3 months of the year... fml

I really don't know why they put up with it. If it was up to me, I would be moving the city away from that area and let it stay empty field, maybe farm land, something... just bad juju about it lol. But then again, most places in Oklahoma are still known for having tornados every so often. We had one out on the lake just last week. Fortunately Durant is a low alt city and in the middle of a bowl, so most storms split and go around us, but occasionally even we get hit.

Yea I can agree with that, but its not so bad down in the southern part of the state, alot less activity. The "Alley" spans across Kansas and Missouri as well. Look into what happened back in 2011 to Joplin. 158 were killed, i think. It was only a F3/F4 but it was still horrible.

I enjoy the southern area, I was working a summer job with my father in Tulsa a few years back, we were doing the top out plumbing for a whole housing edition that was being built, almost done with it and a F2 wiped it all out over the weekend. All that was left was the foundations and a couple were stress cracked. I personally have never seen one, or had one touch down around me, went into shelters as a precaution but all just precautions.

Not common where I live, but part of me would actually like to witness one in real life.... from a very safe, relatively far away location, through binoculars.

Don't forget about Greensburg, KS in 07. That wiped out 95% of the town and killed 11 people. It was basically 2 tornadoes that formed together.

I saw a cloud start rotating in a circular motion once. That was enough for me to say bye bye and hide in the cellar. lol. It would be cool to see one I guess. Severe weather during the day is alright with me but at night it drives me crazy because I have no idea what is happening because I cant see anything.

Haha I used to watch it almost weekly with a buddy of mine. It became a drinking ritual.

Before I raise the flag... can you elaborate? Is that why you're driving a Grand Prix?
