who cares if it doesnt? let it blow up and make cheap parts for the rest of us.

id run a 3.4 pulley on a car with a downpipe, intake, colder t-stat, and plugs. the knock really isnt going to kill it as fast and as brutally as you think.

97s have retarded mystery knock, but account for the majority of the factory freaks.

Yeah 97s sure are like the plague! Some are fine, some are a PITA to work around the first year bugs and slow pcms. In this guys defense a number of years back a good friend of mine had a 97 with a 3.25 pulley, slp intake with ram air hood, downpipe, stock pcm, and borla catback and never had KR problems at all and was pretty strong up top for the time! When high to mid 13s was the numbers to run and try to catch up to lol. After tuning software came out we discovered that the pcm was only programmed with squat for timing which probably saved his butt in the long run! I guess it isnt a fair comparison though since his car DID have a passanger seat

I know a guy that runs a 2.8" pulley with just a intake and maybe some exhaust work. Still waiting for his car to blow up.
