They were another pair of childhood favorites I couldn't afford back in the early '90s, but since I absolutely refuse to pay anywhere near MSRP for the absolute crap quality of today's Nikes, I passed on them when they first released. To my surprise, they actually sat around a bit and eventually ended up on clearance on nike.com! I believe they were about $65/pair with free shipping when I finally decided to bite. Also snagged a pair in the metallic gray colorway when they hit something like $45 at the local Nike Outlet store. I wore all of them quite a bit to work for about a year, and they have held up amazingly well for retros. You could see right away that the quality was MUCH better than the typical Nike retros, and the fact that they still look damn good after regular wearings backs that up further, as opposed to leather cracking, paint/midsoles cracking, etc as typically happens with Nike retros.

Seldom do they get any "heat". But if you look on Niketalk.com under the "Nike Retros" forum, there's a thread every month where people post their outlet findings across the country. If you find something you like, the vast majority will ship as long as it's not something crazy like playoff 11s, or 13s, etc. Anything with a high demand, and they're not going to waste time going through the pain of taking phone orders for them knowing they'll sell out that day or the next locally. But I've picked up some really good deals that way. Got a lot of my basketball shoes dirt cheap over the phone from other Nike outlets.

Edit: Here's some helpful links for bargain hunting:

Good idea. I usually browse niketalk occasionally just haven't bothered registering. Ill check them out again when I get a chance thanks. I can always use some cheaper shoes then what I originally buy.

LOL @ "it wasn't that long ago that basketball shoes were $30." Yeah....maybe for K-mart shoes, which you can still find for that much. But for decent quality shoes? No. Even the first Air Jordan released in '85 was $65. They've been $105+ since the release of the 2nd one in '86. I think almost 3 decades is long enough to have gotten used to the 3-digit price tags. Reselling, on the other hand, is a whole different ball game. That DID blow up over the last decade or so. It didn't exist when the original AJs were at the height of their popularity because production was plentiful. You could go in a day before the AJ 7 was going to be released, and not only still find the 6s, but get them at a discount because the stores were trying to clear them out for the new model. Now you have to camp out 2 or 3 days in advance. THAT part definitely sucks and is BS, especially given how sh*tty the quality of the retros are compared to the originals.

very much so rare i have to agree with you. my black cements 3's from 2011 ive wore prolly 10 times and the paint it cracking already. the toebox hasnt creased yet suprisingly. The 3's are the only aj's i really like enough to buy. i do like a lot of the foamposites and many other shoes but unfortunately they get so hyped the resellers go crazy. i mean look at the yeezys seriously 2k for a ugly ass shoe designed my kanye? but i thought this could be a helpful link. it is legit dont worry https://doubleupkicks.com/#availabled_products
