I would have to vote Winchester 1300 FTW!! Just as much of an aftermarket as the 870, not loose and sloppy like the mossberg. They don't call it a speed pump for nothing... I currently have 5 of them 4 in 12ga and 1 in 20ga for the wife. I've gotten them as cheap as $143 and most I paid was $250 for my defender version(short barrel, extra mag capacity)
Love the Tracker, I've got the .17hmr SS 6.5 like yours. Been looking for a 22 version and can't decide if I want that new one where you can swap cylinders or the 7 shot to match my other.
If your looking at the 10/22 you probably already know, but it's the best .22 ever. I've got 3 of them and all run flawless, used to have a Rem 597 and it was absolute junk.
Mossberg 535, uses the 500 receiver, accepts multiple barrels rifled ect. I turkey hunt skeet and can at my private range repeatedly hit a person size (100 gallon propane tank) target at 170 yards with a slug iron sights and the rifled barrel.
I personally like my 535 better than my rem 870
I picked mine up for 200 "used" unfired multiple chokes rifled barrel cleaning kit.
870s are nice as long as you dint get the base model express... I have the 870 wingmaster and I love that gun. My buddy has an 870 express and it feels cheap and junky compared to the wingmaster.
Remington 597s are finicky. I'll never say anything bad about a 10/22, but the 597 has two rods held in by allen head screws. If you don't tension those screws right it'll jam like a mofo. The early version also had really crappy mags that would stick.
I'm surprised people are talking about the 10mm. God I love that cartridge. My next handgun I plan to buy is a G20. Right now I have an EAA Witness (Tanfoglio) in 10mm. I'm just as surprised no one has mentioned the .45ACP. 1911s are some of the best feeling guns I've ever had in my hands, although I don't own one atm (had two at some point in time), I do intend to own another some day.
For ****s and giggles, my AR15 I built on a DPMS lower with a Delton M4 kit... then completely modified with lots of Magpul goodness.
I had the rods adjusted fine but I bought mine new in 04 and I sold it before they came out with their third revision on the mags. The first two versions sucked horribly. And so did all the aftermarket mags I had tried... That single gun, along with some of their ammunition has really turned me off to Remington and I refuse to even consider the brand anymore. I know plenty of people like them/have had no issies and trust their lives with them, but not me...
1911 is by far my favorite pistol... I have 3: 1 SS Para Ordinance p14 double stack mag, 1 SS Springer GI, and a GSG 1911-22. The 22 is amazing, function flawless til about 4-500 rounds when it gets super dirty(easy to hit that number in a afternoon). And is nothing $$ wise to shoot compared to the 45acp. Great for keeping sharp on the platform without going bankrupt or tearing through my ammo stockpile.
Few of my favorites... (And my wife's pink 32)
My GXPs old trunklid for a target
And since I mentioned them, here's all 5 of my Winchester 1300's

Question for you guys. I'm going to be taking a beginners fire arm class and getting a liscense soon. Shortly after I plan on purchasing my first hand gun. Now I understand your first firearm means its time to practice, practice, practice, and repeat. This is more cost effective on a 9mm. But I will be entering the Department of corrections soon, a mass COs side arm is a .40 iirc. So my question is would it be more worth while to verify what I will be using as a CO and purchase/ practice on that directly?
Im not too concerned about CC at this point. I just want to be ready to go if the **** hits the fans in a prison one day.
My wife carries a Taurus 9, and I just hit people with whatever I'm driving.
never heard of a prison where the guards are armed walking around inside the jail. transporting prisoners, sure. never in the jail.
and in NY, upstate that is. my brothers permit took about a year to actually have in his hand. no cc permit, just hand gun permit. lets hope mass is better then NY.
then of course, every gun you buy needs to dropped off at the police station for another week so they can sent it off to be shot so they have the round, and the shell.
No i wouldnt carry inside the facility. But do have to pass and recertify yearly. Fact of the matter is that is the firearm ill be expected to fire proficiantly. Side arm isnt the right term, maybe the pray you never have to visit the armory arm is more fitting lol.
And mass is probably worse. But at the rate that the state is moving ill have all the time in the world.
i can tell you this, once you have the permit, you'll want more then one gun lol. my bro up to 6 or 7 already , hes had his permit for maybe 2 years now. last one he went big, got a 357. he sent me a link a few weeks back, said hey this is on order, new 40 cal lol
its like a tattoo's i guess, can have just one.
id be praying i don't get stabbed with a shank on a daily basis.
around here the sheriff's works the jail. do all the transporting too. most will put in a few years, then work their way into a police station to be a police officer. a few i know say its a very depressing job at times. and this is at the county level lol not even a REAL JAIL.
this is hilarious Journalists’ Addresses Posted In Revenge For Newspaper’s Google Map Of Gun Permit Owners | TechCrunch its gun related lol
Easily one of the best pistols ive owned:
HK USP 40 w/ Heinie Straight 8s and Jet Funnel Mags
And of course, the big boy:
SA M1A Loaded, Sage EBR Chassis, Vortex Viper PST 16-24 Glass
U should learn on an M240.
Sent from my pager using Morse code. ... .. ... ....
i dont shoot much or own any myself, but i would think it wont matter to much, the act of shooting should be fine, ( practice practice practice ) some guns just kick more, like that damn 357 my brother has. lol smaller ammo is cheaper too. as i understand it. i could be wrong tho.
hes got a pic of it firing, the flames shoot out of every where lol the cylinder the barrel, around your fingers lol
