Uhhhh nope.
We took buddies jet boat out for a shakedown. Things went really well until... maybe the gas tank was empty and the starter fried. IDK, he's looking things over and meanwhile I'm heading for vacation.
That's Dan, Dan saw some goop that said waterproof and used that for his jet drive. I was reading it and saw it said "Do not use below waterline". Dan got really good at bailing since the battery had been sucked dry and his bilge stopped working after about 4 hours of non-stop.
Mmmm well the new regulator/rectifier went bad. Stopped charging and 25 minutes later was so hot still that I burned my finger touching it. Looks like I need to fix up some of the trim wiring as well, it got cooked. Gives me the reasoning to put waterproof relays in place. For now I'll toss the old rectifier back on.
Good part is it got me back and got itself onto the trailer. Can't ask for more than that.
Would have been ugly if my buddy who I towed ended up towing me.
Realizing that all the battery does is the trim and starting the motor (radio and fishfinder), there shouldn't have been an issue.
Flipped the rectifier back on and it's running good. Got an RMA to send the regulator back. Fixed one of the bow cushions against the hull as the wood let go (all of the wood is old and was not cared for, so it's just falling apart in places.).
We took the dog with us yesterday. He seems to like the boat and behaved great around it and other boaters.
Sold SeaRay last year after it didn't want to run right. Was either a block seal or carb issue, I couldn't find it.
Put 1989 Larson 17 foot with 3.7L aka 470 into the water after doing bellows, starter and carb rebuild. That was a great boat with 165hp, screwed right along.
Sold Larson this year and bought a 2006 22 foot pontoon with 90 hp 4 stroke fuel injected.
