I realize my comments will make some angry, but please take the time to do some research so that you can create a well informed response/analysis to the situation rather than an irrational response based on emotion.

I watched it, known issue in the academic realm... Pretty much a joke, since we ignore our own people on a daily basis. Can't fix our own country but lets fix another. We don't address the 15% of Americans that live in poverty that face similar psychological and physiological issues as those in 3rd world countries. 3rd world countries have these problems. As a 1st world country we should not. If they catch Kony what about the funds and means to help all the psychologically/physiologically damaged people + prevent another kony... Yes, lets help everyone else and ignore the problems right in front of us, ignore the millions of Americans suffering, ignore the millions of Americans dying a slow death. joke, + why is this video recruiting the young??? reminiscent of child soldiers...

Copy and paste, i don't have a reliable source for this information, apologize in advance, but if you look at almost any charity, very little money makes it to the cause...
Of the $8.9 million in donations they spent in 2011, this is the breakdown: $1.7 million in US employee salaries $357,000 in Film costs $850,000 in Production costs $751,000 in Computer equipment $244,000 in "professional services" (DC lobbyists) $1.07 million in travel expenses $400,000 in yearly office rent in downtown San Diego $16,000 in Entertainment etc... Only 2.8 million (31%) made it to their charity program (which is further whittled down by local Ugandan government officials) - what do the children actually get?

Bad charities make unhelpful propaganda films, then everyone on facebook lazily passes on their emotional blackmail like it's a good thing to do. If you're going to support a charity, how about supporting one that isn't shoveling your money into their own pockets while supporting increased violence?
Irridium spark plugs last 100k mi and work just as well as copper. Copper is a waste on N/A and only lasts 15k mi. Don't use Platinum.
Use 195* tstat unless you can thoroughly explain why not; 99.9% don't need a lower temp.

I am on my phone so cant get specifics right now. But only about 31% of the money donated goes to help anyone. The rest fills the pockets of the 3 involved. Over a million to travel and another million to film.

W.C. Fields... So long ago said it and it applies still...

Never Give a Sucker and Even Break!

These things have been relieving people of their money forever... can't you just feel it tearing at your heart? And yes, E90 has it right on the money, people will step over someone laying in the street and cry at this while emptying their checking account to fix the Worlds Woe's. go figure...

    Regards!

    P.S., I'm not heartless, just a realist!

"By IC’s own admission, only 31% of all the funds they receive go toward actually helping anyone. The rest go to line the pockets of the three people in charge of the organization, to pay for their travel expenses (over $1 million in the last year alone) and to fund their filmmaking business (also over a million) — which is quite an effective way to make more money, as clearly illustrated by the fact that so many can’t seem to stop forwarding their well-engineered emotional blackmail to everyone they’ve ever known."

"...In addition, public financial records indicate that only 32 percent of the money raised last year went to direct services to help the children affected by the LRA. The other 68 percent went to things like staff salaries, film production, and travel costs. Plus, even though Invisible Children is advocating for a peaceful resolution in bringing Kony to justice, it is not opposed to direct military intervention."

I keep reading what I can. I'm no journalist, so I'm not doing a ton of research. It doesn't particularly interest me, insomuch as making people pay attention to the things they seem to blindly support. Hold the thing and focus on it for a second and see if it's really what you want. If you research these people and find that they are using your free advertizing to do the things you want, that's what is right for you; I won't tell you not to support them. We're not talking about just donating canned goods at Thanksgiving here - people will live and die by the effects of such organizations.

I have had a number of people tell me they're just reposting this stuff to "raise awareness but I'm not gonna donate." My response to that is that giving their propaganda free advertizing is just another chance for someone else to donate to them, and/or to advertize it again, giving someone else the opportunity, etc. If increasing awareness is the singular goal, this campaign doesn't strike me as the best approach.

Edit: This is one of the better articles I've been able to find on the topic, pretty much devoid of kneejerk reactions and copiedcopiedcopied statistics.
