I did her 02 Hyundai Elantra cause it's at 175k and her mom (the original driver of the car) said the spark plugs had never been changed, and it was doing a lot of chugging and surging, and frequent bad misfires, and she was complaining about terrible mpg's. I couldnt believe it's had almost 200k miles and still on factory plugs!
Here's what I pulled out...
And here's a new one..
The electrode is almost completely gone, and the ground is so rounded off and eroded away and the gap was so huge, Im surprised it was even making spark.... one had some oil gunk on the insulator.
I drove it before and after and the difference was unbelievable. At first it felt like it had a heavy trailer hitched onto the back, just no go even when the motor is screamin, choppy and rough. After the plugs changed it was like zooooom... smooth, steady acceleration. She's definitely much happier with her car now![]()
