I was planning on using my refund to buy most of what I'd need to get my 400 AWHP build going. After some thought I might not be doing that though. Who knows.

It isn't the interest in a savings account that adds up, but the interest I am paying on my mortgage. We have a good savings/emergency fund, and no other debt than our mortgage(s). The interest that is paid on a mortgage is unreal. Most times more than the actual cost of the house. So are working hard to pay off the properties we own. That is where we see real savings at. By paying extra each month. Yes, we could do one lump sum payment at tax time, but we are still better off getting more in our check each pay period and putting that extra directly towards the principle on our mortgage.

I like owing. Why give the government an interest free loan for nothing? I have excellent credit and theirs blows.... double standard.

UI without tax at the check is counted as a 1099 at least in TX.

You can write off expenses towards a job search (Suits, Dress Shirts, Miles driven etc.)

Sounds like words of wisdom. There's no reason to allow the government to operate on your money all year, when you can operate on it yourself and invest it. I can handle my money better than my government can.
