Protective car wrap/film??

Does anyone know where I can buy some protective car wrap or film? I gues it would be the same as the dealerships use to ship cars. I am hauling my car behind a movng truck on a flatbed and concerned with chips or scratches. I hauled my T/A like that once and had a bunch of chips.

Crap, many years ago I could have gotten you some of that stuff for free. I worked at a plant that made that stuff for cars. It was like gigantic heat shrink almost. Now, I have no clue where to get it from.

The only think I could think of that you could do is to get some really large, heavy duty trash bags, cut them open and then tape them together somehow so you would have something big enough to cover the front end and then some smaller ones to bag the mirrors.

But, I did read in a magazine that this guy was going to a car show quite a few states away and had a high dollar paint job. He used the blue painters tape and covered the front end, hood, windsheild, mirrors, the back sections of his rims, and any where else that could get hit. At the end of the article, he said it worked really good. Hope this can help you out. Also, my brother had to haul his bimmer from Cali to VA and his truck is sitting on 35's. He took som 2" pvc pipe, cut it the width of the truck and got some indoor/outdoor carpet and cut that the same width and a couple inches from the ground. Attached it to the truck with some heavy zip ties. Woked like a charm. Said it only cost him like 30 bucks to make, compared to the hundreds he would have spent on the film or the flap kit.

We use this Self-Adhering Collision Wrap quite a bit at work. Very good stuff. Stays on on the highway, but comes off easily with no residue when you're ready. Get friendly with a local body shop and I bet you can get your hands on some.

Im kinda liking the blue painters tape idea, the bad thing with that is that it is costly and I can easily imagine spending more than the $60 than the protective film Abrasive posted about.

Thanks guys, I may be leaning towards the blue stuff. I'm gonna stop by a colision shop and ask around. There is a local auto paint supply store/shop here in town too. Maybe they sell the cwrap colision shops use.

oh come on..... if you are "shipping" your car cross country...

good 'ole fashioned Bubble wrap, then wrap the car in plastic cling wrap.

works like a charm!!!!
