Well, here it is, finally. This is just a preview to see what everyone thinks. There are two versions, on with and one without background music. I chose a music file that had a good beat but would be somewhat neutral in taste so as to appeal to hopefully a wider group of people.

Though, I think the one without the music would be better for use just about anywhere, including work, but I thought I would do one of each and see what everyone thought.

    GPF.net ScreenSaver without music

    GPF.net ScreenSaver with music

Let me know what you guys think. They are .exe files so you can install them and uninstall them if you dont like them. If you see any problems with either version, let me know.

That is some great work Scotty!!! I even got a kick out of the music choice!! I was thinking it was gonna be some Barilymanenough

A couple suggestions if I may?

    1. Add more cars and more burnouts (when more come available)

    2. Can the program you use to create the SS move or rotate the position of the photos around the person's monitor? I guess my thinking is that maybe with sitting in the center of the screne only would "eventually" makes its own mark.

    3. Is there any way that we, the lovely GPF.NET community, can add our own soundtracks to the SS? (Heck I might even throw on some Barilymanenough just in your name )

    4. Excellent work regardless

    5. Where are the hot girls?

Loved it man!!! Seriously!!! Thanks for taking your time in making this happen!!!!

    Geddy,

I will add more photos as they become available. I would have used a lot more (I think there is 33 pictures in there now) but several people sent me pictures in too low of resolution to be useable. We're talking 640 x 480. The base resolution I used was 1024 x 768 and I wanted to go higher than that. I was able to take a couple of the 800 x 600 photos and up sample them to 1024 x 768 buts not something I like to do.

So if I get more pictures, like burnouts, then I'll add them. But as with anything else, you dont want too many of them.

I can create transition effects but as far as making it move around the screen, I dont think I can. That said it would take a while for it to sit there to actually burn in and Im not even sure if you can burn in an LCD screen. CRT monitors sure, but I dont know about LCD screens. But it would take you a very long time of running that screen saver alone for there to be any type of burn in.

There is no way for anyone add their own music after the screen saver is compiled into the .exe installer. Im using commercial software to make the screen saver and it has TONS of options. I can set registration codes, splash screens and a host of other stuff. You just cant add to it after its been compiled to the .exe file.

The other issue with the music is that I have it set up to run and reach the end of its track about the time the pictures finish. Unfortunately I have no way to trigger it to restart exactly at the beginning of the pictures. So that means that as new pictures are added I'll probably have to come up with some different music. I decided to spare everyone my Barry Manillow tracks though.

There is an easter egg in the screen saver. Find it and you'll find naked hooters girls standing next to all the cars.

To open the one with the music, you need to uninstall the one without music and then install the one with music. You might be able to install them both together but I didnt try that.

I will add more cars as I can. Hopefully, despite the long delay in getting this done, it will encourage others to send in some pictures. Now that the hard work is done it will be fairly easy to keep it currrent and perhaps even make some others. Id like to make one of a Grand Prix track day. It would be nice to have one of the Branson meet as well, but I need more photos for that.

In due time, as people get more involved I will hopefully be able to do more.

The problem with commercial music is that if you use it and distribute it, even for free, its a copyright violation. So I decided to stick with some tunes that were under the creative commons license which allows me to use it and distribute it without concern of violating a copyright.

Hey, Scotty. It just dawned on me that I never sent you new pictures after I got my GXP. I'll send a few over to you when I get home tonight.
    This one has a V8.
Why not just make a V6 faster?

I'll try to get you some more higher quality pics. The GTP isn't really pic worthy at the moment for new ones, but I have a clean low mile undercarriage that is up on jack stands and will be for awhile.

Unfortunately no. I did well getting one for windows. The best I could do is one for Linux since thats what I mainly run, but even that would be a challenge since I know of no open source software for Linux to do the same quality screen saver.

Hey, I sent you one more picture just a moment ago. It's a replacement for one I already sent you previously that had a stupid McDonalds sign above the car. Please for the love of god, if you use that picture make sure it's the new one and not the McD's one. lol

Having been absent from the scene for the last few weeks, I have not done much with the screen saver. I'll try and get the new pictures sent to me integrated to the screen saver once Branson is done with.
