That looks fun and all but i chose to go with function over looks
I added a 10,000rpm Velociraptor HDD to mine with a 60mm HDD cooling fan and also 12v modded the main cooling fan.
The main fan is allegedly good to around 90cfm or so but normally only runs at 5v MAX. well i took care of that problem
-- Heat...what's that?
and the HDD? 10 to 30% faster load times for all games/saves loaded to the hard drive is an average. some are 50% or better. I no longer want to punch babies while playing Forza due to the tracks taking BLOODY AGES to load.
For the HDD:
Solder a 12v lead into the last 3 pins on the SATA connector.
Reassembly of the above connector must be done with only HALF of the shell to allow the connector to sit low enough on the mount. you will need a spacer on top to ensure good clamping force so it doesn't rock when inserting/removing the drive.
Made a small pigtail so the HDD cover is still removable. I wanted all internal wiring but it simply can't happen. I still can completely disassemble the XBOX minus that small black plastic shroud around all of the outputs on the back.
For power for all this i tapped into the 2 12v lines of the DVD drive (one on each side) so as to balance the load. First pic of final assembly: Note it lacked the spacer on the top of the SATA connector. This is how i found that one out. OOPS!
And the fan on the HDD cover's outside. This still is removable like stock and almost completely open. no room for internal fan. Obviously i trimmed the zipties flush :P
Wanna run a 7200rpm HDD or mod for the 10k? I can help you through it. Go look up a program called HDDHACKER and see the drives it supports. We'll soon be able to do a 320GB drive as soon as they dump the HDDSS.BIN for the new star wars console. time to upgrade!
